Drug abuse is wide-spread in many countries. Billions of dollars are spent internationally
preventing drug use, treating addicts, and fighting drug-related crime. Although drugs threaten
many societies, their effects can also be combated successfully. This essay looks at some of the
effects of drug use on society, and suggests some solutions to the problem.
Drug abuse causes multiple problems for countries and communities. The medical and
psychological effects are very obvious. Addicts cannot function as normal members of society.
They neglect or abuse their families, and eventually require expensive treatment or
hospitalization. The second effect is on crime. Huge police resources are needed to fight
smuggling and dealing. Criminal gangs and mafia underworlds develop with the money from
drugs. However, the menace of drugs can be fought. Education is the first battle. Children need
to be told at home and in school about drugs. People need to be aware of the effects so that they
can make avoid this problem. A second approach is to increase police manpower and powers to
stop dealers and to enforce the law. However the main target should be the user. Families and
counselors need to talk to children and people at risk. Parents need to look at their children and
help them to Jobs are needed to give people a role in society.
In conclusion, although the problem of drugs may seem impossible to eliminate, there are
concrete steps that can be taken to weaken the hold of drugs on society. The danger from drugs is
too great to ignore.

Working long hours at a computer can cause eyestrain.A letter to the New England Journal of
Medicine provides one explanation for the problem. Japanesere searchers studied some of 50
office worker swho spent an average of three hours a day at a computer.
Since blinking keeps eyes moisture, thus reducing strain, the researchers counted blinking
rates under different conditions. The workers averaged 22 blinks a minute when relaxed, 10
blinks a minute while reading a book, and just 7 a minute while reading a text on a computer
screen. When your eyes open wider for a long time, moisture on your eyes evaporates more
quickly. Your eyes may be dry and this will make them easily irritated and strained.
So when you work at a computer screen, close your eyes periodically. That will spread a tear
film and rest your eyes. And remember to blink more often.

Tsunami occurs when major fault under the ocean floor suddenly slips. The displaced rock
pushes water above it like a giant paddle, producing powerful water waves at the ocean surface.
The ocean waves spread out from the vicinity of the earthquake source and move across the
ocean until they reach the coastline, where their height increases as they reach the continental
shelf, the part of the earth crust that slopes, or rises, from the ocean floor up to the land.
A tsunami washes ashore with often disastrous effects such as severe flooding, loss of lives due
to drowning and damage to property. A tsunami is a very large sea wave that is generated by a
disturbance along the ocean floor. This disturbance can be an earthquake, a landslide, or a
volcanic eruption. A tsunami is undetectable far out in the ocean, but once it reaches shallow
water, this fast traveling wave grows very large.

All human beings eat food and make use of the chemical energy in it, so do all other
animals. Perhaps you wonder where all that chemical energy comes from. Why doesn’t the food
all get used up? The answer is that new food is being grown as fast as old food is used to. It is the
green plants that form the new food. Animals either eat the plants or eat other animals that have
eaten plants.
The green substance of plants is chlorophyll. Chlorophyll can absorb sunlight. When it
does so, it changes the energy of the sun into chemical energy. The chemical energy present in
sunlit chlorophyll is used to combine dioxide in the air with water from the soil. Starch and other
complicated compounds are formed. These are high in chemical energy obtained from the
sunlight chlorophyll.
They make up the food on which mankind and all other animals live. In the process of
forming this food, some oxygen atoms are left over. These are given off into the air by the plants.
The whole process is called photosynthesis. Thus, plants use sunlight to from food and oxygen to
from carbon dioxide and water again. Plants change the sun’s energy into chemical energy. And
animals change the animal energy into kinetic and heat energy.

How A Fuel Light Works

Many cars, motorcycles and other modern vehicles have fuel warning light devices. the
warning light is usually red which switches on automatically when the level of fuel in the tank is
very low. The warning light gives the driver information about the amount of petrol in the tank.
When the light switches on red, it tells the driver that the petrol in the tank is almost empty.
Therefore he have to put more fuel into the tank. However do you know how the fuel warning
works?
Well this is the way the fuel warning light work and gives the driver information about
the accurate amount of the petrol in the tank. When the level of the fuel falls, the float inside the
tank moves downwards. When this condition happens, the arm also moves downwards and it
make the lever touch an electrical contact. This switches on the fuel light in the car dashboard.
The red light which appears in the fuel panel of the dashboard tells the driver that he needs more
petrol for his car. When he pours more petrol into the tank, this condition makes the fuel level
rise and it pushes the float upwards. In return it disconnects to the electrical contact and makes
the red light switch off.

Self-confidence is one of very important parts of humanity. Someone with self-
confidence generally likes themselves and thinks positively about their future. A person who
lacks of self-confidence, however, tend to be pessimistic and is less likely to feel that they can
achieve their goals in life. The good news is that self-confidence is something you can build! So,
how to build your self-confidence?
First of all, you need to identify your negative thoughts because your negative thoughts
will always whisper like this: "I can't do that,""Many people say that I will not succeed", "no one
understands my efforts." These pessimistic thoughts will hold you back from achieving high self-
esteem and greater self-confidence. After identifying your negative thoughts, you must turn them
to positive thoughts. You must be more energized to prove that all of those pessimistic thoughts
are incorrect. This may be started by having the positive affirmations to overcome those negative
perspectives, such as "I am going to try it,""I can be successful if I work at it," or "people will
listen to me." You must try to repeat these sentences over and over to burn your spirits.
Next, you should refuse negative thoughts to occur more often than positive thoughts.
Your positive thoughts should be given more “brain space” than your negative thoughts. The
more you counter your negative self-thinking with positivity, the better confidence you will
have.
In conclusion, as your confidence grows day by day, you must eliminate reminders of your
negativity that can make you feel bad about yourself again. Always boost all of your positivity to
achieve your dreams! Negativities might be reminders from the past and let the positivity
become the flashlight to lighten up your map of dreams. This will go a long way in building your
self-confidence up.

Viva Forever”
Song by: Spice Girls

Do you still remember

How we used to be
Felling together, believe in whatever
My love has said to me
Both of us were dreamers
Young love in the sun
Felt like my savior, my spirit I gave ya
We’d only just begun

Hasta Manana,
Always be mine

[Chorus:]
Viva forever, I’ll be waiting
Everlasting, like the sun
Live forever,
For the moment
Ever searching for the one
Yes I still remember,
Every whispered word
The touch of your skin, giving life from within
Like a love song that I’d heard
Slipping through out fingers,
Like the sands of time
Promise made, every memory saved
Has reflections in my mind

Hasta Manana,
Always be mine
