Note: For extreme climatic conditions (warm–damp, hygrothermic or sea climate) an additional
top coating on the windings is available.

1.7 Noise and Vibrations

Noise power level Lw(A) :
H Typical values 15 to 20 % less than specified in IEC 34–9
Vibration severity:
H Less or equal values as specified in IEC 34–14 or DIN EN 60034–14

2 Constructional Characteristics

2.1 Design Features

The FMP160 motors consist of cast iron end shields with a laminated stator frame between them. The stators
are of so–called casing–free type. They consist of square laminations, which are assembled by means of
four through–passing steel bolts and held on both sides by press plates.
The laminated rotor is of single squirrel–cage type, comprising copper bars and short–circuit rings. The rotor
is mounted in two single–row sealed ball bearings, which are located in both end shields.
The drive–end shaft extension is provided with splines to DIN 5480. The non–drive–end shaft extension is
a cylindrical one with two keys. It is used for mounting a disc brake and a handwheel with the increment pulse
generator.
The terminal box produced of galvanized steel is placed on the top of the non–drive endshield.

2.2 Motor Ventilation

The motors are cooled by an external fan mounted on one side of the non–drive endshield. Technical data
of the cooling fans are given in table 1 below.

H ON with every lift trip, OFF 30 s after completion of the trip
H ON if the temperature of the winding is greater then 60 °C
H OFF if the temperature of the winding is less 40 °C
High ambient temperatures in machine room (> 40 °C) and the resulting overheating of the motors shall be
avoided. Therefore, the machine rooms must be sufficiently ventilated respectively cooled. If necessary, the
incoming air must be filtered.

Note: The terminal boxes are designed so that the cables to be connected can enter either from
the left or the right side of the motor. The inlets are fitted with EMC compatible cable
glands, which allow shielded cables to be connected.

2.4 Protection Against Thermal Overload

FMP motors have one measuring resistor PT100 on the hot side of the winding. The measuring resistor is
monitored by the control logic which stops the motor if the winding becomes to hot (tripping point 150 ± 5 °C).
Protective switches, applied according to K 602336, provide for protection of the supply cables.

3 Electrical Characteristics

3.1 Connections and Voltages

All the FMP motors have windings connected to Star–connection and are designed for nominal voltage
UMN 340 V.
FMP motors can operate with mains voltages UN, 50 or 60 Hz, shown in Table 3. Permissible voltage
variations are +/– 10 %. Voltage deviations beyond – 10% are not allowed.

3.2 Number of Poles

All the FMP motors have 4–pole windings.

4 Operational Data

4.1 Motor Output and Currents

Rated outputs PMN, line currents INN and rated currents IMN of FMP motors are shown in Table 3.
Starting currents INA: INA < 250 % INN

4.2 Motor Torques

The nominal torque can be derived from the motor output with an average slip of 3 %:

 +

The starting torque is equal to:

 + *
 + * AAA

4.3 Admissible Starts per Hour

The admissible number of starts per hour is ZKH =240 at a cycle factor KA = 50 %.

4.4 Ambient Temperature, Altitude of Installation and Air Humidity

any way nor used for manufacturing nor communicated
This design and information is our intellectual property.
It must without our written consent neither be copied in

The rated outputs of the FMP motors are valid for ambient temperatures of max. 40 °C at altitudes up to
1000 m. For higher altitudes the max. allowable ambient temperatures are:
H Altitude 2000 m : max. ambient temperature 30 °C
H Altitude 3000 m : max. ambient temperature 19 °C
H Altitude 4000 m : max. ambient temperature 9 °C
Higher ambient temperatures require:
to third parties.

H Increase of the required output PME : 1 % per each 1 °C above the specified allowable ambient
temperature
H Decrease of the admissible starts per hour ZKH: : 2 % per each 1 °C above the specified allowable
ambient temperature
With the impregnation for extreme climatic conditions (see Section 1.6) the max. admissible relative air
humidity is 98 %.
