 2 * Preventive Maintenance

2.1 Overview

2.2 * Preventive Maintenance

General Check
No Step
1 Check the buffer and its horizontal support (if available) for any damage.
2 Check that the buffer stands vertically in the hoistway.

Clean
1 Clean the buffer casing.
2 Clean the plunger and oil lightly.

Check the Oil

Level 1 Unscrew the oil filler screw (1).
2 Check the oil level using the dipstick (2). The minimum (B) and maximum (A) oil
levels allowed are marked on the dipstick.
3 If necessary, refill oil according to the procedure stated below. If the buffer is
leaking, it must be replaced.

Refill Oil
1 Unscrew the oil filler screw (1) and refill with the quantity of oil needed. The
maximum oil level must not be exceeded. For the oil type, refer to the note below.
2 Check the oil level using the dipstick (2).

Use HLP 68/ISO 6743/4 L-HM68, in accordance with DIN 51524. These are mineral oils
with additives for improvement of anti-corrosion properties, anti-aging and improved
performance under boundary lubrication conditions (anti-seize additives).

Check Buffer
1 Check the HP dimension against the following table when the buffer is fully

2 If the dimension HP is in accordance with the value in the following table, the
buffer is ready for operation. If not, the unit must be replaced.

 3 Buffer Test

 Buffer tests must be carried out periodically according to the local regulations.
 After the buffer tests have been carried out, check the height HP according to the table
above.
 If the top position height is no longer reached, or if leaks are found, the buffer must be
replaced.

 4 Replacement

4.1 Replace Entire Component

Procedure
No Step
1 Remove old buffer and drain oil from buffer.
2 Install new buffer according to the installation procedure.

Waste Disposal Dispose of the oil according to the environmental standard.

4.2 Replace Safety Switch

Procedure

1 Remove wiring from terminals and remove old safety switch.
2 Install new safety switch at same position.
3 Connect wires to terminal of new safety switch.
4 Check function of new safety switch.
