Why should a teacher of this generation be equipped with the technological know-how in delivering

lessons to the learners?

Technological know-how refers to knowing how to use or how to do something more efficient
and effective through a certain technology. This includes knowledge of technology, such as access to
information on the Internet, the handling of such information and the ability to adapt to new technologies.
Since students are now considered digital natives, it is important that teachers have a high level of
technological knowledge.

I can say that technology is one of the essential parts of our life. It makes our lives much easier
and comfortable, especially in a classroom setting. In our current generation, being equipped with the
technological know-how improves the teaching and learning process. First, it enhance learning or should I
say it makes learning more effective because students are engage in authentic learning experiences
especially today, 21st century students no longer have the same attention span as students of years ago.
For me, integrating technology can help to break the paradigm of using traditional learning. For example,
teachers can use Powerpoint presentations and download sample videos or anything in the internet (with
credible sources). It is a surefire way for the students to not easily bore rather than using some textbooks.
Second, Technology is a powerful tool that can help teachers to easily create instructional materials for
students to have a quality education. Being knowledgeable in using technology is an effective way in
gaining the knowledge and skills that a teacher needs to create learning tools for having such a
meaningful learning experience. Just for example, instead of creating a simple PowerPoint Presentation,
they can provide a game that can enhance traditional ways of teaching. It can be used as a learning tool
for the students to be more engaged in the lesson and they will have an interest to the topic, thus they are
motivated. Students can enhance their creativity and increase their level of participation in class. Third, it
can help in catering all students despite of their different learning styles. Every student has different
learning styles and abilities. Technology can make learning more effective for students with different
needs. Fourth, teachers can save a lot of time in doing instructional materials wherein they can perform
more tasks in less time.

I realized that technology has a tremendous impact upon education today in the era we currently
in. Apart from the fact that the teacher needs to know how to use technology, they also need to know
when to use it because there are some instances that it makes learning difficult or it’s not always
applicable to use. Technology will continue to grow and new inventions will be discovered over and over
again. In conclusion, growing technology is largely a sign of the advancement of our society. Therefore,
technology is a positive tool in the classroom that has many advantages in teaching of today’s generation.
