INTRODUCTIONS

Lampung Overland Various English Competitions (LOVE-Comp) is


an English competition based in Bandar Lampung of University

of
Lampung held by student of English Society (ESo) of
University of Lampung.
Consisting of five branches of competitions, this event serves
as a vessel for participant to hone and maximize their knowlegde
of English based abilities.
Since 2013, English Society has successfully held LOVE-Comp
with Senior High School and Varsity student participating with
greath enthusiasm.
However due to corona Virus disease 2019 (COVID 19)
pandemic, we've decided LOVE-Comp 2021 will be held online
with the theme
"Cope New Habit, Move Without Limit".
We aim to bring together people all over Indonesia in order for
them to compete with people that they
wouldn't get to meet otherwise.

1. Participants of Speech, Storytelling, and Newscasting are separated into Senior High School and
Varsity.
2. Participants of Debate are open for public.
3. Participants are forbidden to register in more than 1 competition
4. The committee of LOVEComp Online 2021 will not provide any refund for those who are
disqualified or quit for any reason. Except the competition is cancelled due to lack of minimum
participants, then the registration fee will be refunded.
5. Each institution is allowed to send any number of participants in each competition branch, except
Debate which has maximum capacity 5 teams/institution.
6. The competition will be considered for cancellation if the number of participants does not reach
the minimum quota as determined by the committee. The minimum quota for each competition:
Debate
30 teams
Speech
SHS = 35 participants
Varsity = 35 participants
Story telling
SHS = 20 participants
Varsity = 20 participants
News casting
SHS = 35 participants
Varsity = 35 participants
Scrabble
Newbie = 16 participants
Open = 16 participants
7. If there is any cancellation, it will be informed on October 22nd, 2021
8. All of the participants have to attend the Technical Meeting on October 30th, 2021 via Zoom
meeting. The participants will be invited to the WhatsApp Group on the closing registration date at
the latest.
9. Every rule must be followed. Disqualification is necessary for any participant who violates the rule.
The judges decision is final.

3. Afterwards, upload your payment receipt on registration form in each

A. PREFACE
Debate is one of the competition branches of LOVE-Comp 2021. In
debate, there will be two different sides, the one that supports the
motion and the one that opposes the motion. Each side should
defend their stances and the teams who elaborate and engage into
the motion the most will win. LOVEComp 2021 Debate
Competition will use British Parliamentary system with Open
Category featuring Novice Category.

B. RULES OF COMPETITION
1. Registration fee : IDR 325.000.

2. Open for every individual in Indonesia with the maximum


capacity are 48 teams.

3. The registration will be closed if the quota has been fulfilled


before the registration time is over.

4. The debate competition will use British Parliamentary


System.

5. The platform that will be used are Zoom, Whatsapp group,


and Herokuapp Tabulator.

6. The Debate competition will use the Open Category featuring


the Novice Category.

7. Different institutions in one team are allowed.


8. An institution may send more than one team and the
maximum number is 5 teams.

9. Every participant must join the Technical Meeting and re-


register themselves on Saturday, October 30 th 2021.

10. The participants who have been registered online can be


replaced with a new participant at the latest on Saturday,
October 30 th 2021 orprecisely before the technical meeting
starts by sending the request of replacement to our email
address: debatelovecomp@gmail.com, with the following
subject: (Replacement_Debate Competition) and the following
format body mail:

a) Name of Original Participant :

e) Reason :
Any kind of related document that supports the participant’s
reason is required to be attached within the email (e.g. signed
medical permit from hospital). If the committee finds the
reason as an acceptable reason, the committee will send the
approval of the replacement request to the participant’s e-
mail address.
C. MATCHES ROUND
The competition will be conducted through two phases;
Preliminary Round and Elimination Round.

1. Preliminary Round (Friday, November 5 th 2021)

(There will be Novice Semi-final, Novice Grand Final
Open Quarter-final, Open Semi-final, and Open Grand Final)

D. NOVICE CATEGORY
1. Novice Speaker is a speaker who:

a) has never advanced into the Elimination Round of any


National or International Debating Competition; and

b) has never been awarded as Speaker Awards in any


National or International Debating Competition.
(National Competition is competition that at least
consist of 3 different regions).

2. There is a possibility of Novice Category to be canceled if:

a) Novice team do not reach minimum capacity (8


teams).

b) 60% of the participants are novice teams.

3. Novice team can choose to either break in open category or


novice category.

4. Further confirmation about novice category will be


announced on the technical meeting.
E. SCORING SYSTEM
1. Scoring system will be done based on the scoring system in
British Parliamentary Rules.

2. Any effort will be done in order to make sure the adjudicators


will give fair judgment to every participant.

3. All the decisions made by the adjudicators are final.

A. PREFACE
Storytelling competition is away of individual to compete their skill
at conveying stories with their own improvisation in order to move
the audience. In this competition, the participants are free to create
the story based on theme given and perform it as attractive as
possible. The judges will score the participants according to the
scoring aspects that have been appointed.

B. RULES
1. Registration fee :
a. SHS : IDR 100.000
b. Varsity : IDR 120.000

2. The participants must make an original storytelling video based


on theme given by the committee.

3. Each participants must be present to compete and cannot be


represented by anything else other than themselves. If not,
there will be a disqualification.

4. The video must meet the following criteria:

a) Video must be taken landscape from one camera angle.

b) Video has to be one-take and uncut video.

c) Make sure the video has audible audio and can be seen
clearly.

d) The video resolution should be a minimum of 480p with


format mp4.
e) Editing such as sound effect, visual effect, or filter are not
allowed, except for adding English Society (ESo) and LOVE-Comp
logo.

f) Make sure to add English Society (ESo) and LOVE-Comp logo


that will be given on Technical Meeting on Saturday, October 30 th
There will be point deduction for videos that have no logo on it.

5. Participants will be allowed to use properties to enhance the


performance. Any sharp tools are not allowed to use.

6. The duration of performing is 6-10 minutes. If participants


perform the story below the minimum or exceed the maximum
duration, 3 points will be deducted per 30 seconds of time
violation.

7. For Preliminary Round, participants will submit their story script


and the storytelling video. Starting from October 30 th -
November 1st

a) The participants must upload their video on YouTube with the


following format:
Title: Storytelling_Level (SHS/Varsity)_Participant’s
name_Institution’s name and hashtag: #lovecomp2021
#storytellinglovecomp2021
(e.g. Storytelling_Varsity_MeilizaTriyani_Universitas Lampung |
#lovecomp2021 #storytellinglovecomp2021).

b) The participants must send the link of the video uploaded on


YouTube and the text submission (attached in softcopy pdf file) to
storytellinglovecomp@gmail.com with subject and file’s name:
“Storytelling SHS/Varsity_Participant’s Name_Institution’s
name”
(e.g. Storytelling Varsity_MeilizaTriyani_Universitas Lampung).
8. For Final Round, participants will be given 3 words that consist
of: place, situation, and noun which have been prepared by the
committee. The participants must make a story based on these
three words in one day preparation, starting from Friday,
November 5 th 2021 and perform it on Saturday, November 6 th
via Zoom meeting. The duration of performing is 5-7 minutes
and if participants perform the story below the minimum or
exceed the maximum duration, 3 points will be deducted per
30 seconds of time violation.

Preliminary Round

1. The preliminary round is prepared story.


2. Story themes:
a) SHS : “Aim Your Target, Be Unstoppable”.
b) Varsity : “Broaden Your Horizon and Find The New You”.

Final Round

1. The final round is three words story.


2. Participants will be given 3 words that have been prepared by
the committee and perform the story that has been made via
Zoom Meeting.

SCRABBLE
A. PREFACE
Scrabble competition is an individual or team competition where
each participant puts the letters on their respective racks into a valid
word in English. The goal in this game is to get as many points as
possible, the player with the most points will be declared the winner.

B. RULES OF COMPETITION
1. Registratin fee:
a) Newbie : IDR 90.000

b) Open : IDR 100.000

2. Every participants have be registed at the maximum date on


Friday, October 22 nd, 2021.

3. Technical Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 30 th ,


2021.

4. The competition will be held on November 5 th until


November 6 th , 2021.

5. Participants are students or collage students in Indonesia.

Participants are players with an ISF rating of > 600 in the

Open category and a rating of < 600 in the Newbie
category.

7. Participants in the Newbie category are players with an ISF


rating of < 600 and have never won the title of champion
in a scrabble competition at the provincial or national
level.

8. Rules using Wespa v4.

9. The number of games held is 12 rounds, 20 minutes/round


(each player has 10 minutes) with a maximum time out
of 1 minute.

10. The maximum delay is 10 minutes after the game starts.

11. The minimum quota of participants is 16 participants in


each category.

12. Using the CSW19 dictionary (Collins Scrabble World List


Dictionary 2019.

13. The competition is held through 3 applications, namely


Woogles.io, Zoom, and VDO.Ninja/obs.ninja.

14. Has 2 devices (Laptop/PC and Mobile) and a strong signal.

15. The cellphone is used as a camera that shows participants


and the Laptop/Pc is used to play and sharescreen in the
obs.ninja application.

16. The decision of the jury and committee is absolute and


cannot be contested.

17. The winner will be announced in the Closing Ceremony on


Sunday, November 7 , 2021.

D. SCORING ASPECT
The participant who manages to collect the most victory points and
margin from the total rounds played will be declared the winner.

A. PREFACE
Newscasting competition is a competition where the participants will
deliver the news as a professional anchor. This competition has 2
(two) rounds with different difficulties in each category; Senior High
School category (News Reading in the Preliminary Round and Live
Report in Final Round) and Varsity category (News Reading in
Preliminary Round and Live Report in Final Round).

B. RULES
1. Registration fee:
a) SHS: IDR 100.000
b) Varsity: IDR 120.000

2. Participants must make an originally newscasting video based on


the script theme that are given by the committee.

3. Each participant must be present to compete and cannot be


represented by anything else other than themselves. If not,
there will be a disqualification;

4. The video must meet the following criteria:

a) The video is filmed from one camera angle;

b) The maximum duration of the whole video is 3 minutes. If a


participant exceeds the maximum time given, the point will be
deducted;
c) The participants must upload the video horizontally
(landscape);

d) The participants must show their upper half of body;

e) The video resolution should be a minimum of 480p and the


video format should be on mp4. Every participant has to make
sure that the video can be heard and seen clearly;

f) Editing is not allowed, except for adding English Society (ESo) &
LOVE-Comp logo that will be sent on Technical Meeting. There
will be a deduction point if there is no logo in the participant’s
video;

5. Participants must wear a formal attire;

6. Participants must keep their appearance neat and clean,


including hair or hijab neatness;

7. A minimum make up wear is permitted.

8. For Preliminary Round, participants will submit their news


script and newscasting video, starting from October 30 th -

a) The participants must upload their video on YouTube with the

9. For Final Round, there will be a live report session for both
categories (SHS & Varsity). They will perform it live via Zoom
Meeting with a maximum 5 minutes of performance time,
with these following agenda:

a) SHS: On the finalist announcement day (November 5 th, 2021),


the committee will give a theme for the live report session and
finalists must make their own script and perform it on
November 6 th , 2021 (one day preparation).

b) Varsity: On the final day (November 6 th, 2021), the committee


will share screen the news script and finalists have 8 minutes to
prepare their own script based on the news that has been
shared before and perform it live immediately.

C. MATCHES ROUND
Preliminary Round

1. The preliminary round is news reading;

2. On the technical meeting day (October 30 , 2021), the
committee will give news themes for hard and soft news.

Final Round

1. The final round is live report;


2. The final round for SHS is one day prepared script. The news
theme will be given by the committee on the finalist
announcement day (November 5 th , 2021);
3. The final round for varsity is 8 minutes prepared script. The
news text will be given by the committee on the final day
(November 6 th , 2021), before each participant performs.

A. PREFACE
Speech competition is an individual competition where the
participants deliver their own typed speech, based on chosen
themes given by the committee. The judging aspects will be scoring
by the speech’s contains, language, and delivery of the speech itself.

B. RULES
1. Registration fee:
a) SHS: IDR 100.000
b) Varsity: IDR 120.000

2. The participants make an original speech video based on the


themes that are given by the committee.

3. Each participant must be present to compete and cannot be


represented by anything else other than themselves. If not,
there will be a disqualification;

4. The committee of Love Competition will not provide refund for


those who are disqualified or quit for any reason;

5. Every rule must be followed. Disqualification for any


participant who violates the rule will be under the discretion
of the committee to decide unilaterally.
6. The video must meet the following criteria:

a) Filmed from one camera angle.

b) The participants must upload the video horizontally


(landscape).

c) The participants should wear dress formally while recording


video: there are no jeans, sandals, slippery, short pants, and t-
shirt.

d) The video resolution should be a minimum of 480p and the


video format should be on mp4.

e) Editing is not allowed, except for adding English Society (ESo) &
LOVE-Comp logo. There will be a deduction point if there is no
logo in the participants’ video. The logo will be sent on Technical
Meeting.

7. The time for the Speech video is 5 – 7 minutes (no extra time,
extension time will get minus 3 points).

8. Each participant is not allowed to use or read any script in any


form when delivering the speech.

9. For Preliminary Round, participants will submit their speech


video and text which has been typed before with their chosen
theme from the ones given by the committee, starting from

b) The link of the video and the text submission (attached in soft
copy pdf file) have to be sent to speechlovecomp@gmail.com
with subject and file's name "Speech_SHS/VAR_Participant's
Name_Institution's Name".

c) Participants are only allowed to upload the video once and are
not allowed to revise or change the video, even though it still
within the deadline of submission.

d) Submission deadline is on November 1 st , 2021 at 11.59 PM


Western Indonesia Time. If the participant exceed the time limit
of the submission, the video is no longer accepted.

e) The judgement given by the judges is absolute and inviolable.

10. For Final Round, Announcements for participants who qualify


for the final round will be announced by the committee on
Sunday, November 5 th, 2021 through WA group. The final round
will be extempore speech.The theme will be explained at the final
technical meeting. Participants must prepare their own speech
after the theme is announced during the technical meeting.The
