ORIENTAL
Misamis got its name from the word “misa” a Spanish term for the Eucharistic
Mass.
Other stories say that the word “Misamis” came from the “Kuyamis” a variety of
sweet coconut which was also the staple food of the earliest known Negrito
settlers in the area.
