Hello Bishop Families ~

During this time of reflection and appreciation, I want to share my gratitude and thank you
for being such an important part of our children’s lives. This is a wonderful time of the year to
get together with friends and family to celebrate and be thankful for all the wonderful
people who mean the most to us.

The success of our Bishop community is built on a foundation of mutual respect and
inclusiveness. Every day, our dedicated teachers and staff nurture a culture of fairness, love
and caring, all focused on the goal of providing a safe learning environment for our students
and families. The Bishop faculty is committed to continuing this focus and supporting our
families during the school day and beyond.

I am thankful the Bishop continues to strive for excellence in each and every classroom, to
grow stronger by our diversity, and to cultivate an open and positive school climate.

On behalf of the Bishop staff, THANK YOU for your continued support. I wish you all a safe
and happy holiday.

Mark

Lost and Found Items
There are a number of student items in the front foyer of the building. Please come by and
take a look before Thanksgiving if your child has lost anything.
All items will be donated after the Thanksgiving break.

Read Together, Learn Together’ Club -

The Bishop DIG invites you to join our ‘Read Together, Learn Together’ Club. Please see our
flyer HERE.

This club will provide a safe and supportive space where adults in the Bishop community
can learn together, build relationships, reflect, grow, and contemplate change.

The first book we will be reading is A Different Mirror by Ronald Takaki. For more information
about the book, please read a review at
https://www.zinnedproject.org/materials/different-mirror-multicultural-america.

We invite parents, caregivers, teachers, staff, and administrators to join the book club. You
are all welcome to read and learn together with the Bishop DIG.

Please RSVP by December 1st by emailing Ileana Gatica at amandanicte@gmail.com.

WHEN? - Once a group of readers is set via RSVP, we will send a Doodle poll with possible
dates for our first meeting.
HOW? - We will meet virtually one time per week depending on everyone’s availability to
talk and reflect on our reading.
LOGISTICS - Thanks to the generosity of the Bishop PTO, we have copies of the book to
provide to each participant of the book club. Please let us know if you’d like to pick up a
copy at the Bishop Office.Any other questions? Email Ileana at amandanicte@gmail.com.

We really hope you will join us!

Sincerely,

The Bishop DIG

BISHOP PTO NEWS AND UPDATES

Thank you from the Bishop School PTO!

At this time of year, we would like to take a moment to reflect and say thank you to:

● Bishop teachers and staff, who have welcomed our children back to school with
smiles and open arms. After a difficult and trying year, you are supporting our children
with love and meeting them where they are.
● Our amazing children, who have jumped back into the classroom with exuberance.
Your resilience in navigating big changes is a shining example to all of us.
● Our wonderful volunteer community, who make the behind-the-scenes work of
running events and programs fun and engaging.
● And, especially, our Bishop families. Thank you for helping us get closer to our
fundraising goals through our Annual Fund campaign, and for participating in
school-wide events like the Pumpkin Sale and Walk-A-Thon, so we can continue to
provide support to our children and teachers.

A few reminders as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday:

● Giving Tuesday is on November 30th. If you haven’t already done so, this is a great
opportunity to make your Annual Fund donation. Some companies with corporate
matching programs give double or triple matching donations that day. If your
company is one of them, please consider selecting Bishop as your non-profit of
choice!
● Holiday Help is looking for gift card donations for local families in need. Please sign
up here to participate and send in your contribution(s) by Friday, December 3rd.
● Please help support Arlington EATS by bringing your non-perishable food donations
to the bins by Bishop’s main office now through Friday, December 10th.
● As you begin your holiday shopping, please remember to sign up for AmazonSmile.
It is an easy way to raise money for Bishop.

Thank you, and have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving holiday!
