The study of the evaporative drying of a solution droplet is also
important in many critical technologies, such as inkjet printing,
coatings, microfluidics, DNA mapping and also in disease detection
and early diagnosis. When a droplet containing colloidal particles
(like blood) or nanomaterials evaporates on a solid substrate, a ring-

process. This is known as the Coffee Stain effect. The objective of
this project is to study the footprint upon evaporation of amorphous
or crystalline solution drops on surfaces of different surface
energies and map the observations to different driving forces such
as Marangoni effect and thermo-capillary effect.
Ultra-thin liquid films (thinner than 100 nm) tend to become

structures using Spin-Dewetting of thin coatings, it can be potentially leveraged to engineer some
complex nanoscale structures and patterns. This project aims at
studying certain fundamental, experimental aspects of dewetting on
a Spin Coating platform.
The aim of this project is to develop a comprehensive
understanding of the design aspects related to surface coatings with
anti-finger print and oil-repelling property. Finger print contains
amphiphobic oleic acid, which has very low surface tension, high
viscosity, and sticks to almost any regular surface. Certain coatings
Chemical Engineering Nandini Bhandaru Study Project Design of Superoleophobic Surfaces with micro and nanoscale patterns of specific type can minimize the
spreading of low surface tension oils and split them into tiny
droplets, which can easily roll off the surface. We will try to go
through existing works over past 20 years and compile the
advantages and the fabrication challenges which are preventing
these coatings from being commercialized.

PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) is the most widely used polymer in

nanotechnology, lithography and microfluidics. This is because of
its ability to crosslink, replicate micro and nanostructures easily,
biocompatibility and ease of handling. Due to the wide usage,
PDMS is subjected to different treatments including UV exposure
Chemical Engineering Nandini Bhandaru Lab Project Effect of surface treatments on PDMS
or plasma treatment to modify its surface property. But lot of
aspects regarding the chemical changes on the surface and in the
bulk of PDMS is still not explored. This project will utilize contact
angle goniometry, SEM, XPS and other spectroscopic techniques to
understand changes in PDMS property.

Glyphosate is a ubiquitous herbicide used in agriculture.
Glyphosate is toxic to plants, humans, and animals as it affects the
cell cycle regulations. The intensive use of glyphosate raises
concerns about environmental impacts and health risks as it is now
appearing as a residue in ground water. Rapid monitoring of
glyphosate in water samples difficult and costly through
chromatographic techniques. Due to the cumbersome sampling
procedure, only a few samples are collected on a yearly basis.
Therefore, we need an affordable, rapid and sensitive analytical
method that can frequently identify and quantify glyphosate on-site.
Continuous or frequent monitoring of water contamination can
provide an alert in the case of contamination.

Silk from silkworms (e.g., Bombyx mori) is one of the prime
biomaterials for bioelectronics such as e-skins, e-bandages,
biosensors, wearable displays, implantable devices, artificial
muscles due to their non-immunogenicity, biocompatibility,
controllable biodegradability, non-toxicity, and structural integrity
in physiological conditions. Bioelectronics call for benign and
water-based micro-/nanofabrication approaches, which are still in
their infancy. This project aims to realize benign, water-based
material-processing and fabrication methods to create silk-based
bioelectronic systems to monitor and modulate physiological
activities.

The IEEE 802.15.4 standard is one of the widely adopted
networking specifications for Internet of Things (IoT). It defines
several physical layer (PHY) options and medium access control
(MAC) sub-layer protocols for the interconnection of constrained
wireless devices. These devices are usually battery-powered and
need to support requirements like low-power consumption and low
data rates. One such medium access control (MAC) protocol is the
Deterministic and Synchronous Multi-channel Extension (DSME).
The DSME MAC facilitates stringent delay and throughput
requirements, including enhanced scalability and robustness
through multi-channel access. However, the DSME MAC is limited
by several shortcomings in the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. Firstly, a
slot scheduling mechanism is necessary for allocating time slots and
frequency slots to multiple communicating devices. Secondly, for
multi-hop communication, the scheduling scheme needs to maintain

same number of associated devices, and traffic flows vary
throughout the network. Thus, the scheduling mechanism needs to
be traffic aware and decentralized for scalable network operations.
Thirdly, slot management in DSME is not adequately addressed in
the standard. This results in issues like inconsistent slot allocation
bitmap, failure of Guaranteed Time Slots (GTS) deallocation in
volatile topology, and collisions of slot management handshakes in
Contention Access Period (CAP). Finally, the absence of sleep
periods in the multi-super frame structures is the primary energy-
draining issue in DSME. CAP reduction minimally addresses this
issue by allowing associated devices to sleep during DSME-GTS
when they are not in either transmission or receiving state.
However, coordinators, including the PANC, has to remain active
for a longer duration resulting in a reduction in network lifetime.
Hence, further investigations are required to combine energy

Context: Drugs refer to the chemical compounds that are consumed
by the human body during cancer treatment and induce a change by
interacting with the protein targets. The drugs may induce favorable

changes that are elicited by the drugs in the cancerous cells are
known as drug side effects. These side effects range from minor
reactions like headache to serious reactions such as cardiac arrest,

Over the last three decades, disability in India has gradually moved
on to becoming a subject of political activism. Prior to this
disability has a long history of being the object of charity, welfare

the recent shift may include the active involvement of disabled
activists, and organizations in mobilizing for non-discrimination
