The only change to the ori inal circuit is a level trimmer is added to the output to sath your bypass signal to the open gate. For best results the STFU should be placed first in your signal chain. Vactrol choice: The original design used the VIL5C2 vactrol, for best opera- tion we recommend that you use either this or the Hacron equivalent CHIZ4OCLD-R9 If you wish to experiment with a home-rolled vactrol an LOR with a 1M+ dark resistance and 10k or less light resistance will be a good place to start. If the light resistance is too high unity volume may not be reached with the gate open and if the dark resistance is too low the gate may nat fully close. The LDR rise and fall response times will directly relate to how quickly the gate opens and closes.
