Discovery 3: Verify Voicemail Integration


This discovery topic guides you through the steps to use the Telephony
Configuration check in the Phone System configuration window on Cisco Unity
Connection to verify that the integration was configured correctly.

The SIP integration in Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity


Connection is already configured. Use the Telephony Configuration check in the
Phone System configuration window on Cisco Unity Connection to verify that the
integration was configured correctly.
Follow these steps to verify the voicemail integration from Cisco Unified
Communications Manager:

Press Messages on any headquarters phone. The opening greeting should play,


which indicates that the integration is functional.

In a web browser, enter https://10.1.1.100/ccmadmin to access the Cisco Unified


Communications Manager Administrator web interface.

Choose Device > Trunk.

Click Find and then click the CUC_Trunk link.

Verify the trunk settings and document the relevant settings in the table provided.

From the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administrator web interface,
choose Advanced Features > Voice Mail > Voice Mail Pilot and document the pilot
number in the table.
From the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administrator web interface,
choose Advanced Features > Voice Mail > Voice Mail Profile and document the
Voice Mail Profile Name in the table.

From the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administrator web interface,


choose Call Routing > Route/Hunt > Route Pattern and document the Route Pattern
and Gateway (Trunk) in the table.

Verify Voicemail Integration from Cisco Unity Connection

Follow these steps to verify the voicemail integration from Cisco Unity
Connection:

In a web browser, enter https://10.1.1.102/cuadmin to access the Cisco Unity


Connection administrator web interface with the URL.

Choose Telephony Integrations > Phone System and click PhoneSystem.


From the Related Links drop down box, choose Check Telephony Configuration and
click Go.

Check to see if the Cisco Unity Connection system responds with error messages.
Read the issues and details, if any.

Choose Telephony Integrations > Port and then select the first port.

Check that the Enabled and Answer Call check boxes are checked.

If the boxes are not checked, check the Enabled and Answer Call check boxes and
save the changes.

Click Next to move to the second port and repeat steps 14 and 15 for this port.

From the Related Links drop down list, choose Check Telephony Configuration and
click Go.

Verify that the verification check is now successful.

Choose Telephony Integrations > Port Group.

Choose the only port group that is listed.


View the Port Group settings and notice that MWI is enabled on the SIP trunk.

Note: A SIP trunk differs from an SCCP integration in that it does not require the
configuration of dedicated MWI numbers.
