Assignment 1 Brief

Objective
To revise and enhance student’s skills in the application of Microsoft Word.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completing this assignment, students shall be able:
 To display the various features and tools of Microsoft Word
 To present information gathered in a written report with creative layout.

Task
Students are required to form a group with a maximum of 3 students and submit the grouping to
lecturer/tutor.

The project title for the assignment is: CHRONOLOGY. Each group shall assume a topic of their
own choice, that is:
 Fun
 Creative
 Meaningful
 Encouraging
 Informative
 Positive

Students are required to use Microsoft Word to produce a report and shall display the following
features:

 Cover page
 List of figures, tables etc
 Table of contents
 Heading or styles
 Tables
 Graphics (High resolution image)

 Header and footer
 Page number
 Watermark
 Page colour & border
 References and citation
 Page Break and Section Break
 Orientation (portrait and landscape)

Beside the aforesaid features, students are encouraged to apply any other relevant features of
Microsoft Word to produce an informative and organised report. The length of the reports is
approximately 1,500 words.

Submission
The submission of your group assignment shall consist of the following in sequence of:

 Front cover;
 Marking scheme;
 Printed report in A4 size paper;
 Softcopy submission to respective tutor.

Your hardcopy assignment shall be properly organised, stapled & taped for submission.

All submissions must be made during the tutorial sessions on Week 5.

Assessment strategy
Assignment 1 will contribute 15% towards the 100% coursework marks of ATGB1414 IT and CAD.

Any late submission of assignment without acceptable reason or permission from the assessor will be
penalized.

Students with less than satisfactory work will be required to make good the assignment.

Objective
To revise and enhance student’s skills in the application of Microsoft PowerPoint.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completing this assignment, students shall be able:
 To display the various features and tools of Microsoft PowerPoint.
 To produce visual aided presentation with creative presentation style of Microsoft PowerPoint.
 To produce video with the use of powerpoint.

Task
Prepare a visual aided presentation based on your written report Assignment 1.

Students are required to use Microsoft PowerPoint to deliver a presentation that displays the
following features:
 Organised presentation text with tables and graphics
 Enhanced slide show with design and animation
 Pictures and diagrams
 Video clips
 Sound clips
 Music

Besides the aforesaid features, students are encouraged to apply any other relevant features of
Microsoft PowerPoint to deliver an informative and interesting presentation.

Each group is allocated 5 minutes (maximum) for the Self-running presentation which will be held
during the tutorial sessions of Week 12.

Submission

 Printed presentation handouts in portrait orientation with 6 slides per page; and
 CD with assignment softcopy (Ms PowerPoint) in appropriate folder.

Your group assignment shall be properly organised, stapled & taped for submission.

All submissions must be made during the tutorial sessions on Week 12.

Assessment strategy
Assignment 2 will contribute 15% towards the 100% coursework marks of ATGB1414 IT and CAD.
