1. What agent of socialization affects the individual the most? Explain your answer.

The first experiences of socialization are often provided through social groups.
Subsequent families and peer groups communicate expectations and strengthen norms. I
believe that the first and most essential socialization agent that has the greatest impact on
individual socialization is family. The most intensive socialization—and the most lasting
socialization—occur throughout childhood, when newborns and children spend the majority
of their time with their parents and families. At a period when children are maturing and
building a sense of self, families pass on their values, actions, and language. Mothers and
fathers, siblings and grandparents, and members of an extended family teach the child what he
needs to know. When we are babies, we are totally dependent on others to survive. Our
parents, or those who play the role of parents, have a responsibility to teach us how to function
and take care of ourselves. Along with the rest of our family, they also teach us about close
relationships, group life, and how to share resources.  In addition, they provide us with our
first system of values, norms, and beliefs, a system that generally reflects your own social
status, religion, ethnic group, and more.  The family, as a micro-society, serves as a conduit
between the individual and society. In the process of socialization, the family plays a crucial
role. Because a family is a primary and personal organization, it employs informal social
control tactics to rein in unwanted behavior among its members. Parents employ both reward
and punishment to instill in their children what is socially expected of them. It prepares the
younger generation to take on adult responsibilities in a responsible manner. The importance
of a functioning family setting in the individual's socialization process cannot be overstated.
The first human behavior patterns in orientation and initial interpersonal relationships are
provided by family.

2. Why do you think socialization matters?

Socialization is vital both for individuals and for the societies in which they live. It
illustrates how completely man and his social worlds are intertwined. For a society to function,
the socialization of individuals is necessary. Socialization is important because it helps to
maintain societies and cultures; it is also an important part of individual development.
Socialization teaches us what our society expects from us. The manners and customs of
different cultures are learned through socialization. Socialization prepares people for social life
by teaching them the common norms, values, beliefs, and behaviors of a group. For youngsters
