DRAIN TRAP MANAGEMENT

Water is present in a gaseous form in the air that is drawn into the compressor. Moisture in a
Compressed Air system reduces system efficiency by causing pitting in Pipes that leads to uneven
internal surface which increases the Friction loss which increases pressure drop in line.
Forbes Marshall drain traps are used to remove moisture from the compressed air receiver tanks
and distribution lines. Most of the industries use timer based drain traps which opens after a set
interval of time, leading to the loss of compressed air along with moisture which results in risk of
presence of moisture in the system which is not desired. This loss of compressed air has to be
compensated with extra supply from the compressor.

Traditional Method used Forbes Marshall Solution

The Challenges:

 Significant loss of compressed air.

 More power consumption as it operates
irrespective of the presence of moisture
 Reset required based on the weather
conditions
 Productivity losses throughout operation
 Rust and corrosion in the air system piping
