History Of Solar Energy: Who Invented
Solar Panels ?
Who Invented SOLAR PANELS?

Solar energy is actually nothing new. People have used solar

power as far back in history as the 7th century BC in its most
Primitive states, Energy from the sun has been reverted and put to
use almost as long as man has walked the Earth.
Solar power cell Technology Invented. In 1839, French physicist
Edmond Becquerel discovered the PV effect while experimenting
with a cell mode of metal electrodes in a conducting solution. He
noted that the cell produced more electricity when it was exposed
to light.
Later in 1873, Willough Smith discovered that Selenium could
function as a Photoconductor.

Edmond Becquerel
Almost 50 Years after the Photovoltaic Effects discovery in 1883,
American inventor Charles Fritz created the Frist Working
Selenium solar cell. Though we use Silicon in cells for Modern Solar
Panels, This solar cell was a major Precursor To the technology
used today.
Becquerel is attributed with uncovering the potential of the
Photovoltaic effects, And Fritz with actually creating the Ancestor
to all Solar Cells.

INTRODUCTION
 Solar Power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into
electricity, either directly using Photovoltaic (PV), indirectly using
concentrated Solar Power or a CombinatiConcentrated Solar
Power System uses Lances or Mirrors and Solar Tracking System to
focus a large area of Sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaic cells
convert light into an Electric current using the photovoltaic effect.
 Photovoltaic were initially solely used as a source of electricity for
small and medium sized applications from the calculator powered by
a single solar cell to remote homes powered by an off-Grid roof top
PV system. Commercial concentrated solar power plant were first
developed in 1980s. As the cost of Solar Electricity has fallen, the
number of grid connected solar PV system has grown into the
millions and Gigawatts-Scales Photovoltaics power station are being
built.
 Solar PV is rapidly becoming an inexpensive, Low Carbon
technology to harness Renewable Energy from the sun. The current
largest PV station in the world is “PAVAGADA SOLAR PARK”
Karnataka, India with a generation capacity of 205MW.

PAVAGADA SOLAR PARK

 “The International Energy Agency” Projected in 2014 that under its
High Renewable Scenario, by 2050. Solar PV and concentrated solar
power would contribute 16% and 11% respectively of worldwide
electricity consumption and solar would be the world’s largest source
of Electricity.
 Most Solar installation would be in CHINA and INDIA in 2019.
Largest Solar Power Plants Worldwide

1) Bhadla Solar Park, India – 2.25 GW

2) Huanghe Hydropower Hainan Solar Park, China

- 2.2 GW

3) Shakti Sthal Solar Park, India - 2 GW

4) Benban Solar Park, Egypt - 1.65 GW

5) Tengger Desert solar Park, China - 1.55 GW

 7) What is the AC Load in Solar Panels?
1. Alternating Current 2. Acute Counter
2. 3. Air Conditioner 4. Air Concentration

 8) What Is DC Load In Solar Panels?

1. Different Current 2. Defined Current
3. Direct Current 4. Domestic Counter
 9) What is the percentage of subsidy does
government provides to household Installation of

Tidal Energy Geometrical Energy Biomass

Energy

 Solar Energy: - It is Radiant light and heat from the sun that is
harnessed using a range of ever-evolving technologies such as solar
thermal energy, Solar Architecture, Molten salt power plants and
Artificial Photosynthesis.

 Wind Energy :- Wind Energy is Electrically created from the naturally

flowing air in the earth’s Atmosphere. As a Renewable resource that
won’t get deputed through use. Its impact on Environment and climate
crisis is significantly smaller than burning Fossil Fuels.

 Hydro Energy :- Its this electricity produced from generators driven by

turbines that convert the potential energy of falling or fast-flowing
water into Mechanical Energy.

 Tidal Energy:- It is Harnessed by converting energy from Tides into

useful forms of power, mainly electricity using various methods.

 Geometrical Energy:- It is a Thermal Energy in the Earth’s Crust

which originates from the Formation of the Planet and from
Radioactive decay of materials in currently uncertain but possibly
roughly equal Proportions.
 Biomass Energy:- Biomass is plant or animal materials used as fuels
to produce Electricity or heat. Best examples of biomass energy is as
follows:- Woods, energy crops and waste from forest, Yards, or Farms.
