Power of Diversity Workshop Supports Underserved Filmmaking Voices

A successful film producer with years of experience in Hollywood, Jon Aubrey Divens has worked at
production studios such as Sony Pictures, Walt Disney, and Warner Bros. He supervised the production
of the box office hit franchise Blade. In 2010, Jon A. Divens co-founded the production company Rocket
Media Inc. He also owns the streaming company Watch Now. To augment his work, Jon Divens is a
member of the Producers Guild of America. The Producers Guild of America (PGA) is a nonprofit
organization with the goal of protecting and promoting the interests of its members. PGA members are
industry professionals who work in media producing teams and include executive producers, production
managers, and co-producers. The organization defends its members’ rights for healthcare benefits and
fair working conditions PGA launched its Power of Diversity workshop as an opportunity for underserved
voices to create projects such as films and documentaries with the organization’s guidance and support.
Running for eight weeks, the workshop provides one-on-one mentoring sessions in addition to master
classes that cover story development, pitching, and financing. The free workshop is held at the PGA
headquarters in Los Angeles, and only 10 applicants are accepted each year.
