1 Safety instructions
1.1 General
Work on the platform lift may only be carried out by trained and competent persons.

1.2 Safety actions prior to working on the platform lift

The lift unit must be isolated at the external isolator switch prior to opening the electrical
compartment. The external isolator switch should remain off until the work is completed.
Before work or manual lowering or raising takes place, the power supply to the platform
lift must always be switched off at the platform lift’s main power switch.

Switch off the main power switch as follows:

1. Remove the electrical compartment panel situated on the right or left hand side of
the platform lift door, on the bottom landing. The main power switch is behind the
panel. The electrical compartment could also be situated on another floor, or be
situated in an external electrical compartment.

2. Switch off the lift units main power switch and place a warning sign prominently at
each platform lift entrance advising of work in process.

When working in the shaft enclosure underneath the platform

When work is taking place in the shaft enclosure underneath the platform, the
platform must be driven up at least a metre. Before entering underneath the platform
the safety pit prop (Figure 2 pos5) must first be activated by turning the safety pit
prop handle to its active safety position from outside of the lift. (Figure 2 pos1) To
activate the safety pit prop handle pull out the adjustment bolt and move the handle
over to the safety position as shown on the sign. (Figure 2 pos3) When the handle is in
its safety position, the safety pit prop is activated, the electrical current is switched off
and the door lock bolt is in open position with the aid of the wire (Figure 2 pos2).

1.3 Risk of crushing

WARNING – Risk of crushing

There is a risk of crushing when checking for self-sustaining. Take

great care whilst working.
* Self Sustaining i.e. No movement of the platform lift unless under power

1.4 Frequency converter

IMPORTANT! If the platform lift is driven by a frequency
converter the main power switch must be turned off for at least
20 minutes to allow the condensers to discharge. There is a
risk of serious electric shock if this procedure is not followed
when working on the frequency converter.

1.5 Action to be taken in the event of an electrical accident

The following action is to be taken in the event of an electrical accident:

1. Switch off the power immediately. If this is not possible then the person affected must
be removed from the power source. When removing the person, a non-conducting
material must be used, for instance, rubber gloves. If possible the person freeing the
accident victim should stand on non-conducting material.

2. Call the person on-site who is trained to do first aid.

3. Call the Emergency services.

5
2 Operating instructions
2.1 Operation of the platform lift
2.1.1 Control panel
The platform is equipped with a handrail and a control panel with large, easy to use push
buttons. The control panel has an alarm button (5), an emergency stop button (4) and a
number of directional landing buttons (2), see Figure 3. There are outside “call” buttons
at each landing.

The push button must be kept depressed throughout the travel. If released, the platform lift
will stop immediately. When the platform lift reaches the correct landing, it will stop
automatically.

The inside platform push buttons take priority over the outside landing call buttons, i.e. the
outside landing call buttons will not work if someone is travelling at the same time.

In the event of an emergency situation, there is an emergency stop button. This button cuts
off the power to the platform lift which will stop immediately. The emergency stop button
must after it has been depressed be turned clockwise to enable the platform lift to operate
again. Always check that the emergency stop button is not depressed if the platform lift is
not working.

2.2 Emergency situation
2.2.1 Emergency alarm
The platform lift is equipped with an emergency alarm button to allow a person who is
trapped to summon help in the event of a breakdown. When this button is pressed, an
emergency alarm sounds. According to statutory regulations, the emergency signal button
must be connected to an alarm centre. Different regulations operate in various countries.

Power is supplied to the alarm by the emergency battery in the event of a power cut. In
addition, the platform lift can be connected to a local emergency telephone or to the
telephone network. One of the three following alternatives can be used:

 Emergency alarm

The emergency alarm device sounds as long as the emergency alarm button is
depressed. If the button is pressed for longer than 10 seconds, a signal can be
transferred to an alarm centre, to a reception or to some alternative location.

 Emergency alarm and telephone

The emergency alarm device sounds as long as the emergency alarm button is pressed
down. In addition to the emergency alarm, the platform lift has a telephone. The line to
the telephone network is connected if the emergency signal button is pressed down for
more than 10 seconds.

 Lift telephone
The telephone connection is always open. The lift telephone is accessible without
activating the emergency alarm button.
 Emergency alarm and emergency auto dial telephone
The emergency alarm device will sound as long as the emergency alarm button is
pressed down. In addition to the emergency alarm, the platform lift is equipped with a
telephone. The line out to the telephone network is connected if the emergency alarm
button is pressed down for more than 10 seconds. The telephone will automatically call
a pre-programmed number so that an operator can summon assistance.
 In some countries, it is permitted to equip the platform lift with an intercom
telephone with a fast connection between the sender and the recipient.
The line to the emergency telephone/lift telephone is reset automatically after an hour.
It can also be reset manually with the reset button situated on the alarm charge card in
the platform lift’s electrical compartment (see Figure 13 for location).

2.2.2 Manual lowering or raising

If the platform lift should stop and not restart, the platform can be manually lowered or
lifted by using a manual crank. The crank is usually located at the bottom landing inside
the electrical compartment (it may sometime be situated on another landing) It is easier to
lower the platform lift downwards if it has stopped between two floors. It is possible to
move the platform lift upwards but it requires much greater effort.

Move the platform lift manually in the following way:

1. Switch off the main power switch in the electrical compartment (see section 1.2).

2. Release the manual crank (2) from the clamps (3), see Figure 1. (If not in place, check that
the crank is not stored elsewhere).

3. Move the platform lift manually in either direction. The rotation is shown on the sign (Figure
1item1) beside the crank.

7
2.2.3 Emergency door release
If a breakdown occurs, emergency opening of the doors is possible both from the outside
and from the inside of the shaft.

Emergency opening from the outside

Carry out fault finding in accordance with section 0 ”Fault finding” and then manual
lowering or raising according to section 2.2.2 “Manual lowering or raising”.

Emergency release the door according to the following.

1. Switch off the power in accordance with section 1.2 ”Safety actions prior to starting
work on the platform lift”.

2. Remove the plastic plug that is located above the door.

3. If the unit has a triangular shaped key insert it over the lock release pin and turn it to
operate the lock.

4. For A60 and half height the plastic plug is placed to the right respectively left of
the door leaf. I.e. the same side as the closing edge.

3.2.1 Shield wall

In the event of having to dismantle a single panel, which can be done anywhere
on the shield wall, the shield wall opener should be used which is provided with
every platform lift. See Figure 1 pos7.
Place the shield wall opener as shown in Figure 9, and press on the handle until
the snap on profile releases its grip on the shield wall profile.
The rest of the snap on profile can then easily be loosened by hand. Remove the
snap on profiles on both sides of the shield wall panel. In order to remove a shield
wall panel in the middle of the enclosure, the snap on profiles will have to be
removed on two shield wall panels. The shield wall panels are then removed one
at a time.

Note! When dismantling shield wall panels under the lifting platform, the safety
pit prop must always be in its activated safety position in accordance with
section 1.2 “Safety actions prior to working on the platform lift”

When mounting, replace the shield wall panels and set the snap on profile in the
groove and press along the whole of the snap on profile so that a clicking sound
can be heard from the profile.

6 Maintenance
6.1 General
Maintenance on the platform lift should only be carried out by trained and competent
persons in accordance with the recommendations from the supplier but must be done
at least once a year as a minimum. Maintenance should be carried out to the
following items:

 the machinery
 the lifting platform.
 the shaft
 the electrical compartment

Follow the maintenance procedures below.

6.2 Machinery
6.2.1 Lubrication
1. Dismantle the shield wall panel according to section 3.2.1

2. Drive the platform lift to the lower landing.

3. Switch off the power following the procedure in 1.2 “safety actions prior to
working on the platform lift”.

4. Unlock the service panel on the platform and remove the panel from its position.
Figure 3 item 3

5. Check the lubrication sponge for wear and flexibility. If the sponge is worn,
replace it with an equivalent sponge or order a new sponge from Cibes Lift AB.

6. Fill the oil container, see Figure 14. The container holds 0.4 litres. Lubrication
oil is to be Omega SAE20 or equivalent (transmission oil with reinforced
adhesiveness). Saturate the sponge and refill.

7. Clean the machinery of any dirt, dust and oil splashes, using a mild soap solution.

8. IMPORTANT! If the platform lift is driven by a frequency

converter the main power switch must be turned off for at least 20
