ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
“SEMINAR WORKSHOP ON CAPACITATING STUDENTS IN THE
PREPARATION OF SCIENCE INVESTIGATORY PROJECT”
April 3 – 4, 2017

Science Department of Glan – Padidu National High School aims to

capacitate and prepare GPNHS’ students in making Science Investigatory Project.

With this, comprehensive planning was done in order to meet the demands and

needs of the students. The Science Department come up to conduct a seminar –

workshop to capacitate students in the preparation of SIP. The plans have been

realized last April 3 – 4, 2017. Resource speakers from Shalom Crest Wizard

Academy and General Santos SPED Integrated School graced the seminar –

workshop. The resource speakers were Sir Jinnifer Arroyo, Ma’am Eden Grace

Suriaga and Sir Alvin Romualdo. The seminar workshop was participated by twenty

five (25) students of Glan – Padidu Nationahl High School. Each grade level has 5

participants that would represent their level. These students who have potentials to

make SIP were recommended by their respective science teachers.

Day one (1) of the seminar workshop commenced with opening program and

followed with the seminar proper by the speakers. The first topic talked more on

research and the types of research. Followed with the do’s and don’ts of doing

research. The speakers also emphasized on plagiarism and forgery when it comes

to paper making. After the first part of the discussion, the participants were taught to

make an introduction and proper citation. Each group was given the chance to

present their work. The speakers also made corrections and suggestions. During the

presentation, students were commended by the speakers because of their fast


pacing. The speakers gave time to the students to roam around the campus and find

something unusual in which they can create something out of nothing. Students

chose a specimen and created a propose title. They presented the title and was

given suggestions. With the approved title, participants were taught to make a

statement of the problem.

Before day 1 ended, the resource speakers left article and participants were tasked

to make an introduction and statement of the problem and served as their

assignment for the following day.

Second day (April 4, 2017) started with the presentation of their assignments.

This was followed with lecture on methodology for SIP. Participants had hands – on

activity for the methodology and it can be observed that they enjoyed the activity.

Participants were also taught simple statistical treatment such as ANNOVA.

The seminar – workshop ended with a closing programme. Some students

were asked to give impressions. Some of the impressions expressed by the

students were the appreciation to the speakers and to the teachers. Participants are

still in awe because they learned a lot to the seminar – workshop. The speakers also

expressed gratitude to the school for the activity being initiated. The School Principal

also expressed his support to the Science Department in the conduct of Science

Investigatory Project.

Attached herewith is the photo documentation and attendance of the seminar

workshop.
