 As some models have been amended, please use the ones given in
their relevant source books, e.g. Harad and Mordor.
 All models included in the forces section of the current The Lord
of The Rings rules manual, A Shadow in the East, The Fall of the
Necromancer, Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, Return Of
The King, The Ruin of Arnor, Khazad-dum, Gondor In Flames,
Harad, Mordor and Legions of Middle-earth can be included in
your force.
 Only models from White Dwarf issues dating after January 2009
may be used. Also if you wish to field models from white dwarf
you must bring a copy of the issue they are in otherwise they may
not be used.
 Conversions and proxies may be used, but you must tell your
opponents what they count as before the battle.
 Please try to make every effort to make your army “What you see
is what you get” (WYSIWYG), as it saves complications down the
track.
 The Spider Queen will not count as a named character so you may
take as many as you wish.
 Tom Bombadil, Goldberry and Gollum may not be included in any
force.

Scenarios
We will be using the scenarios listed in Legions of Middle Earth and as
such each player must bring a copy to the tournament.
The scenarios will be randomly selected at the start of each Round.

In addition all games will take place on a 3 foot by 3 foot board and will
last a maximum of 10 turns regardless of the scenario you are playing.

Scoring:
At the start of each round a Score card will be placed on your table. At
the end of the game fill out the card accordingly and hand it to the
Tournament Organiser (TO).

Painting:
Players will score 1 point for each of the following:
 The Army is painted.
 The Army has been based.
 The Army list has been displayed clearly and is easy to read.
Please note it is a club policy that all models must be at least undercoated. Any
models that are placed on the table unpainted or not undercoated will be immediately
removed from the table.

Game Scores:
Win Loss
Major Victory 10 2
Minor Victory 8 4
Draw 6 6
Bonus +1 for killing your opponent‟s Most
expensive model.
+1 for finishing your game first.

Sportsmanship:
Players will be given a score sheet at the end of each game to fill as
Normal; each opponent you play will score you for sportsmanship each
round.
 Your opponent clearly stated when and what they rolling for, and
rolled them in plain sight.
 Your opponent played briskly and didn‟t stall for time.
 Your opponent quickly and politely answered any rules questions
you had.
 Your opponent did their measurements accurately.
 Your opponent remained positive though out the game, regardless
of whether they were winning or losing.

Rule Interpretations and Rule Disputes:

 If players have any rule interpretation problems or are unsure of a
certain rule please call for one of the tournament organisers.
Judgements made by the organisers are final and will not be argued
further.
 DO NOT ask other players for their opinion on a rule, as they have
their game to play and you have yours. Any player caught
interfering with other players games will be penalized accordingly.
 All Measurements will be made in INCHES
 None of the Common Scenario-specific rules that are detailed in
the main rule book will be used unless the mission being played
allows it (they will be repeated anyway).
 Objectives count as impassable terrain. Models use the normal line
of sight rules for objectives.
 As some boards will included woods, woods will follow the
following rules:
1. Any model shooting into a forest will have to pass an „in the
way test‟ this also includes models shooting at other models
who are in the same wood.

3|Page

2. If a model is touching the outside edge of the wood, they do

not need to take an „in the way‟ to shoot out, and they still
count as having an „in the way‟ between them and other
models.
3. For a model to benefit from being in a wood they must have
their base fully inside the wood.
4. Models that have their base partially in the wood count as
moving at half speed.

 The Spider Queen, Shelob and Giant Spiders movement special

rule will be modified in the following ways:
1. None of Spiders may end their move on a building or similar
terrain feature.
2. They must have there base on the ground (in terms of the
table) when they enter a combat.
Design Note: the main reason for this rule so that we don’t have
people running the spiders up a wall and attacking on the way
down. This is to prevent models being vertical when they
engage in combat and players arguing where their base starts
and ends. If you have any queries e-mail me or ask me on the
day.

The Showdown:
At the completion of the last round (after player‟s score have been tallied)
the two highest ranked players will play one final round at the end of the
tournament. The scenario that will be played will be „Take the High
Ground‟. However the winner will be determined by the player that has
most number of points on the hill at the end of 10 turns not by the
number figures.
The winner of this round will be declared the overall winner of the
tournament.

Awards:
There are five awards up for grabs at the end of the day:
Overall Winner
Runner Up
Best Painted Hero
Most Epic Moment
Biggest Beat down

The Overall Winner/Runner up:

The Player that wins the „Showdown‟ will be the winner of the
tournament and conversely the loser will be the runner up.

Most Epic Moment:

The most epic moment will be decided at the end of the tournament,
during the day the TO will move about the tables and take note of
extreme circumstances that happen during games.
These can be anything from Heroes winning impossible fights or
something like Sam throwing a stone hitting and wounding a Dragon
causing the dragon to fail it‟s courage test and run off the board.
At the end of the tournament players will have a chance to vote for the
moment they think most deserves the award. The players that were
participating in the game will receive the Most Epic Moment Award.

Biggest Beat Down:

The Biggest beat down award will go to the player that scores the most
wounds in a single round of combat against a single model.
Instead of rolling till the Hero or Monster has died. Roll all of your dice
at once and calculate the total number of wounds you score.
Models that cause instant death from causing one wound do not count,
but will instead only count as one for calculating the total number of
wounds.
If a wound is saved by fate, the wound still counts towards the total.
Eg. The Spider Queen and Lurtz charge and beat Gandalf in a fight. The Spider Queen causes 3
wounds and the Lurtz causes 2. Gandalf saves 3 wounds through fate. The total number of wounds
scored is still 5.
Later Aragorn (with the Sword), Legolas and Gimli trap and beat Lurtz in a fight. Gimli rolls first and
scores 2 wounds; Lurtz fails his fate roll and dies. However the player continues to roll for Legolas and
Aragorn. Legolas scores another wound and Aragorn scores and further 4 (remember Lurtz is trapped).
Giving a grand total of 7 wounds against Lurtz, which would be the new record.
