COVID-19 Pandemic: Insights

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused untimely death and widespread illness,
mental health challenges, economic problems, and even long-term uncertainty. In my
observation, the whole country is suffering. There are families who cannot eat in a day
due to loss of jobs. News reports about increasing numbers of death, traumatic
experience on health, front liners are getting stressed and thin of their line, restrictions
and counter measures of the government to fight for people not to get infected.
Change. Change is the only constant thing in the world. Global pandemic
changes the way people live. In my experience, when a member of the family would go
out to buy some essentials, it is already part of the routine to wear a mask and would
bring a piece of face shield. Long before, we are only wearing masks when we are in a
hospital taking good care by a Doctor. We always wanted to go to see our Doctor when
we experience simple cough. But now, when we feel having a cough we hastily go to
our rooms and close the door and refused secretly to see a Doctor. You see, change.
A funny thing about this pandemic, tycoons would think of anything to sell and we
bought it because it is needed when we enter the establishments or malls. I am referring
to the “Heng de” face shields. Literally we bought it to use as a shield in our face, for
protection. However, when you look at people at the establishments, they are using as a
headwear.
I have learned many things. Adaptability is one of the essential skills during
pandemic. It is the ability to adjust on conditions and environment. On a personal note,
it is also the time that a prayer is the ultimate thing to do.
