LABORATORY EXERCISE NO. 1

TITLE: LAYOUT OF SIMPLE CURVE USING DEFLECTION ANGLE METHOD

PROBLEM: It is required to lay-out a simple curve by deflection angle when D =7o, I = 35o. The curve is to be laid out when
the stationing of the vertex is 1 + 743.22. Determine the different elements of curve.

OBJECTIVE: To lay-out a simple curve by deflection angle method

COMPUTATION:
1. Radius of the curve
2. Tangent distance
3. Stationing of P.C.
4. Stationing of P.T.
5. Deflection Angles
6. Chord distances
a. Incremental Chord
b. Full Chord

TABULATION:

A. Deflection Angle and Incremental Chord

Incremental Chord
Station Deflection Angle
Distance

B. Deflection Angle and Total/Full Chord

Total/Full Chord
Station Deflection Angle
Distance

SKETCH:
Plot the curve manually (label the curve properly)
1. Using incremental chord distance.
2. Using full chord distance.
