ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE NC II

Electricity is a form of energy as phenomenon that is a result of an electrical change (produce

by nature)
Discovered by Benjamin Franklin
Sources of Electricity
 Hydro Electric Power
 Geothermal Electric Power
 Solar Energy
 Wind Energy
 Wave Energy
 Nuclear Energy
 Biogas Energy
 Coal Energy
Kinds of Electricity
 Static/ Direct Current
 Dynamic/ Alternating Current
Electricity Produce
 Sound
 Lights
 Heat
 Cold
 Motion
Switch-controls the flow of electrical energy by opening (breaks) or closing (continues) the
path
Types of Switches
 Flush type
 Surface type
Outlet- a place or opening through which something is let out: EXIT, VENT
 Single Convenience Outlet
 Duplex convenience Outlet
 Triplex convenience Outlet
 Quadruplex convenience Outlet
Types of Electricians
 Lineman (outside electrician)
 Wireman (inside electrician)
Types of Electricians Based on Specialization
 Industrial Electrician
 Commercial Electrician
Level of Electrician
Apprentices
Journey man
Master Electrician

An electrical circuit can be open or closed.

In an open circuit, there is no electricity flow because the path is broken.
In a closed circuit, there is a flow of electricity because the path is continuous.

A circuit diagram is used to represent the electrical circuit using industry-standard symbols.
It shows the path of the electrical energy flow, and how the components are connected to
each other. There are two types of circuit diagrams: pictorial style and schematic style. The
pictorial style uses simpler illustrations of the components so that it would be more
understandable to a less technical audience. On the other hand, the schematic style uses
industry-standard symbols.
