Terminating decimals – the digits in the decimal part of the quotient

terminated or ended.
Examples: 1 ÷ 2 = 0.5
1 ÷ 8 = 0.12
0.25 ÷ 10 = 0.025

Repeating non-terminating decimals – the digits in the decimal part of the

quotient repeats itself infinitely
Examples: 3 ÷ 11 = 0.272727… or 3 ÷ 11 = 0.27
10 ÷ 0.3 = 33.33333… or 10 ÷ 0.3 = 33.33

TASK: Show your solution in dividing the decimals. Encircle the quotient and
identify if it is terminating, or repeating non-terminating decimals. ( 4
points each)

1.) 0.234 divided by 10 2.) 0.25 divided by 50

0.234 / 10 = 0.0234 0.25 / 50 = 0.005

3.) 2 divided by 9 4.) 0.2387 divided by 0.25
2 / 9 = 0.22222222 or 0. 22 0.2387 / 0.25 = 0.9548
