Fly & Drive in Albania

Albania from North to South

Day 1: Tirana Airport - Shkoder (90 km)

Arrival at Tirana Mother Teresa Airport. After the procedures, transfer by private car to Shkoder.

Day 2: Shkoder – Koman – Valbone (95 km)

Wake up early and drive to Koman lake to take the 9am ferry boat. Get your vehicle inside the ferry
and enjoy the 2 hour amazing sail through high mountains. Arrive in Fierze and continue to drive to
Valbona National Park. In the afternoon walk around the beautiful nature of the village.

Day 3: Valbone – Prizren – Durres (300 km)

Continue driving through Kosova to the second biggest city and the most popular city, Prizren. Visit
the old town and get to know closer to the local culture and lifestyle. After lunch drive back to
Albania and stay in Durres for overnight.

Day 4: Durres – Berat – Vlore (202 km)

Take the city tour of ancient DURRES that is also the most important seaport in Albania. We
suggest a visit in the Roman Amphitheatre, the biggest in the Balkan Peninsula (capacity 15.000
spectators) with a rare wall mosaic, which belongs to the 2 nd century A.D and to the Archeological
Museum.  Then continue to Berat. Visit the Lead Mosque, Bachelor’s Mosque, Gorica Bridge and
some dwelling houses of the 18thand 19th centuries. Then continue to the castle, built up on a rocky
hill 260m above the sea level. Churches here have survived within its powerful stony walls. With
interest, is the church, which preserves wooden-engraved iconostasis, housing the “Onufri”
museum. Lunch in Berat. In the afternoon drive to Vlore.

Day 5 : Vlora – Saranda (130 km)

In the morning possible to visit on own the city of VLORA which is one of the major cities of
Albania, an important seaport and tourist site. Visit to the Historical Museum of Independence, the
building where the independence of Albania proclaimed on November 28, 1912. A monument,
which perpetuates this event, raises high at the Flag Square. After Vlora depart to SARANDA
traveling along the seashore. Stop on the way to see the castle of Porto Palermo placed near Himara,
also called as the castle of Ali Pashe Tepelena. The walls of the castle are 1.6m thick. Then, the road
along the seashore passes many beautiful villages. Continue to BUTRINTI, for a guided tour of this
must-to-see site in Albania. A scenic narrow leads you to the ancient city of Butrint which is under
the protection of the UNESCO since 1992. Visit to the Old theatre, the Temple of Aesculapius, the
Baptistery with colorful mosaics and the ancient city walls. An old fortress housing a small museum
watches over the entire site, which is one of the last unspoiled natural and ancient historical areas
in Mediterranean. In the afternoon, we suggest driving to Lekursi castle for beautiful views of the
bay, of the sunset and of the city of Saranda.

Day 6: Sarande – Gjirokaster (56 km)

After breakfast in the hotel, transfer to visit GJIROKASTRA, which is a “Museum City” & UNESCO
site. The characteristic houses resemble the towers and are build one above the other. They have
only one common element, the stone. All the homes have the form of medieval towers. Visit to the
castle, which stands out above the city as a balcony, providing the possibility for visitors to enjoy
the beautiful landscape. The castle houses the National Museum of Weapons, which preserves all
the kinds of weapons used and produced by the Albanians from antiquity.

Day 7: Gjirokaster – Permet – Korce (200 km)

After a delicious local breakfast, continue to Permet for a coffee stop. Continue driving through the
south eastern part of the country. The road stretches through rural mountains and it offers great
panoramic views. A short stop to Farma Sotira is recommended.

Arrive in Korce and visit the old bazaar, Orthodox cathedral, Museum of Medieval Art.

Day 8: Korce – Ohrid (75 km)

After breakfast transfer to North Macedonia. Take a guided walking tour of Ohrid, major tourist,
cultural and spiritual center of the Republic of Macedonia. Known as the Jerusalem of the Balkans
the city hosts 365 Orthodox Christian churches of different times, one for each day of the year. Visit
the oldest church St.Sophia dating from the eleventh century, the ancient theater of the Hellenistic
period, the ruins of the ancient University of San Clemente, founder of Slavic Cyrillic writing in the
tenth century etc. Then we will make a boat trip by the blue waters of Lake Ohrid.

Day 9: Ohrid – Tirane (135 km)

Breakfast in hotel. Drive back to Albania and stop on the way to Elbasan. Take a coffee stop and
walk inside the inhabited fortress.

Transfer to the vibrant capital of Tirana. Visit in the National History Museum, E`them Bey Mosque,
Clock Tower etc. Then continue to the main boulevard transfer and accommodation in the hotel in
Tirana. Drive near Dajt mount to visit BunkArt 1. Visit the underground cold war tunnel built
during 70s from communist leader.

Day 10: Tirana Airport

Transfer to the airport according to your schedule. Goodbye Albania!
