The Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly-Social, Humanitarian, and
Cultural Committee

Agenda: Rights of protected people in the 20-21 Israel Palestine Conflict

The General Assembly,

Expressing its concern over the grave situation in the Middle East,

Alarmed by the rise in terrorist activities by the Hamas,

Reminding all member nations that Gaza has been under a sea, land and air blockade by israel
since 2007,

Recalling the United Nations General Assembly resolution 194 (III),

1. Underlines the importance of the active implementation of Resolution 194 which states
that “refugees wishing to return to their homes and live in peace with their neighbours
should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should
be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to
property which, under principles of international law or equity, should be made good by
the Governments or authorities responsible” in the case of Palestinians who have been
displaced;

2. Strongly Condemns the Israeli government violation of international protocol by


building settlements in occupied territories, and also strongly recommends the
dismantlement of all existing settlements;

3. Highly Recommends Israel to partially open Sea, Land, Air blockades on the Gaza strip
and for Israel to ensure:
a. The free movement of food material, aid, construction materials and other
essential goods into the Gaza strip;
b. That the supply of basic commodities such as electricity, water, sewage and
garbage disposal is given to the residents of Gaza in a Consistent manner;
c. That Gazan residents have freedom of movement into and out of the strip upon
permission from Israeli authorities;

4. Calls upon the Israeli Courts to ensure fair,free and speedy trials to all civilians
regardless of their race ,religion and gender, in light of the same take the following
recommendations and make rightful changes to their judicial system:
a. Ensuring trials for all protected persons and Israelis at civil courts;
b. Easing of penalties of protected juvenile offenders to match those of Jewish
Israeli juveniles;
c. Ensuring provision of basic human rights to all offenders in detainment pre
prosecution;
d. Removal of arbitrary detainment of protected children;

5. Supports the establishment of Jerusalem as a corpus separatum, making it free for people
of all religions, and its functioning to be based upon the 1950, STATUTE FOR THE
CITY OF JERUSALEM;

6. Recognizes the condition of children in occupied territories and in light of the same
recommends the implementation of the following:
a. Strengthening of documentation on child violations , in order for the accurate
measuring of the conflicts impact on children, and advocating for enhanced
compliance to child protection standards;
b. Working on the prevention and protection services for children in altruistic
settings by investing in child-friendly community service in the areas affected
including Gaza and East Jerusalem aiming to safeguard physical, psychological
and psychosocial healthcare;

7. Decides to remain actively seized of the matter.
