What is your chosen religious ritual about?

“Periodic Ritual” (Sunday Mass)

A periodic ritual is one that is done at regular intervals, e.g., daily, weekly, monthly, annually, etc. The
aim of a periodic ritual is to mark time, to create or maintain a connection between the performers and
their cultures or communities, as well as to stimulate active and regular participation of members of a
tradition in its beliefs and practices. Periodic Rituals assist in enhancing bonds amongst members of a
religious community and their belief system. These rituals can either be communal or individual and can
be executed by the beneficiary or by an officiant. Examples of Periodic Rituals include daily meditation,
prayers done before meals, Sunday mass, or full moon services.

Describe your observation and experiences during the religious

ritual.
There is nothing wrong in the given answer. I just want to add another points to consider. Every Sunday
Mass a day of obligation, a holy day for us to grow in faith. Every baptized Christian are required to
attend mass that is why the Church are entirely occupied by faithful and this is also the day where we
have no work. There are a lot of families, couples, children, elders, individuals who are present because
it is also the day of Thanksgiving. It took less than or more than an depending on the minister/priest.
There are Church bells ringing before the mass started, along the rituals there choirs singing
accompanied with instruments, there are servers and commentators including the Lectors. Sunday mass
is the best day to spent time with the Lord not because the Church requires, but it's because the Lord
demands. It is one of the important holy days that nourishes our faith and relationship with God.
Why do you think the community believes in this ritual?
Going to church every Sunday also enhancing our mood and improving our spiritual health.
Supposedly it boosts the immune system and decreases blood pressure. It’s an opportunity to
strengthen our faith. Our faith is something to be proud of, and not only is it good for us, but we
will feel good about yourself. Potentially, it will give us a sense of purpose. If we attend, a closer
bond may develop. Mass can be a time of relaxation for us. A glorious hour of prayer and
reflection can do wonders for our mind, body and spirit. It’s a time to listen, to give thanks, to
forgive and to worship. Ultimately, this will bring us inner peace.

How does it affect the members of the community?

The celebration of Mass, like life, has vertical and horizontal dimensions. This parallels the great
commandment, which instructs us to love God and then to love our neighbors as ourselves. The
way we celebrate Sunday will affect the way we live the remainder of the week and is a mark of
Christian identity from generation to generation.
