Job Title: Waiter or Waitress

Classification: Full time or Part Time


Location: Malaria Road, Quirino Hwy, Caloocan, Metro Manila
Pay Grade: Per Hour

Job Requirements
I. Summary of the Position
Waiters and waitresses work at restaurants and other food facilities, interacting with customers
and delivering their meals on time. They collaborate with other waiters/waitresses and restaurant
personnel to collect orders, make menu recommendations, and keep an eye on customers
throughout the meal. Their role is to record orders on a notebook or tablet device and communicate
them to the kitchen. They may also be in charge of wiping tables after customers have left and
interacting with the kitchen regarding orders from diners.
II. Job Duties
 Greeting guests and collecting orders for drinks and meals
 Keeping an eye on the demands of the guests in the dining room
 Food from the kitchen is delivered to the visitors.
 Assuring that the meal order is prepared accurately by the kitchen staff and that it appears
presentable to the guests.
 Food handling should be done in accordance with health code guidelines.
 Delivering racks of cups to the service station, rolling silverware, pre-bussing tables,
cleaning tables, and clearing trash are just some of the shift chores.

III. Waiter/Waitress skills and qualifications

Successful waiters and waitresses should have the ability to work swiftly, pay attention to details,
and handle many jobs at once. The following are some of the most crucial abilities and
qualifications for a waiter/waitress:

 Minimum age requirements: In some states, Waiter/Waitresses must meet a minimum


age requirement to serve alcohol in an eating establishment.
 Customer service skills: Before anything else, Waiter/Waitresses are customer service
professionals. People entering this field should develop skills that help them work with the
public.
 Physical ability: Due to the demands of the job, Waiter/Waitresses should have the
physical ability to stand for long periods of time and lift trays of food, racks of cups and
other objects that might be a part of daily duties.
 Critical thinking and time management: Waiter/Waitresses have to work well under
pressure. For instance, when the restaurant is very busy and the sous chefs are backed up
on tickets, servers may need to use their critical thinking and time management skills to
assist with quality assurance in the kitchen while keeping guests happy and refreshed.

I. Education and Training
Although some businesses may demand a high school diploma or equivalent, most
employers do not specify education and training requirements for Waiters/Waitresses. Some
websites and states provide Safe Food Handling certification; which service industry workers can
take to make themselves more appealing candidates in a competitive market. Waiters/waitresses
can advance to leadership or managerial positions as they get more expertise in the field.
II. Experience Requirements
Starting as a host or hostess and working your way up to server is a common career path
for a Waiter/Waitress with no experience. There are no specific experience requirements for
becoming a Waiter/Waitress beyond that. Customers service, attention to detail, multitasking, and
basic numeracy are all talents that anyone entering the service industry should hone. This type of
experience and skill set is typically acquired after working in the food service sector for a period
of time.
