Subject Description
Learning about the different interrelated aspects of society has fascinated me since my
days in college. Discussing how these aspects contribute to the development of human
society or how a single aspect can hinder its development. Topics such as people, family,
culture, and issues have been discussed all throughout my education. This subject will
discuss the link between people ,culture, and environmentalissues.
People have existed since the age of antiquity. Originating from our primitive ancestor
which had the features of primates to the intellectual version of humans today, the
Homo Sapiens. People or humans started as nomadic wanderers that eventually bonded
together to form tribes, cities, societies, and civilizations. These people, we now call as
ancestors, have contributed to the development and evolution of society today.
Looking back at the annals of history, we can see that people have come a long way
from our ancestors.
These people have left their mark in history through their distinct behavior which was
later on identified as cultures. Culture is the collection of ideas, beliefs, symbols,
language, and practices that a society, tribe, or civilization adheres too. Throughout the
passage of time different societies have developed their own form of culture. Some of
these culture have gone out for a variety of causes, but others have survived and are
still practiced today.
Cultures did not remain stagnant as years passed. It evolves as the world evolves. Today,
new forms of culture have emerged. A culture that is a mix of one or more cultures, and
one that has been gaining popularity in recent years. This evolution has been aided
greatly by globalization.
As social science students, we are inspired by how interconnected people, cultures, and
environmental issues are. We wanted to learn more about the interconnected
components of society in this class. As a result, we will have a better grasp of the world
in which we live. The learning we will acquire in this class is a vital knowledge for us to
be a better individual in the ever-changing world.
