Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II is the leader of Palembang Darussalam Sultanate during
two periods (1803-1813, 1818-1821), after the reign of his father, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin
(1776-1803). Since appointed as the Sultan of the Kingdom of Palembang succeeded his father
Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin resistance to the British and Dutch.
In his reign, he had several times led the battle against the English and Dutch, among them
the so-called War of Menteng. When Batavia successfully occupied in 1811, Sultan Mahmud
Palembang actually managed to free from the clutches of the Netherlands on May 14
1811.Sejak lead found in the Pacific in the mid 18th century, Palembang and its territory
became the target of Britain and the Netherlands. In order to establish a commercial contract,

June 25, 1821 Palembang fell into the hands of the Netherlands.
As of July 13, 1821, near midnight, Sultan Mahmud Badarudin II and his family boarded
the ship Dageraad with the aim of Batavia. From Batavia sultan mahmud Badarudin II and his
family were exiled to Ternate by the Netherlands and to the end 26 September 1852. Sultan
Mahmud Badaruddin is one of the two fighters against the British and Dutch colonists.
Presidential Decree No. 063 / TK / 1984 conferred the title of National Hero to Sultan Mahmud
Badaruddin II.
His name is now immortalized as the name of the international airport in Palembang,
Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport and currency rupiah to 10,000 rupiah denomination
issued by Bank Indonesia on October 20, 2005. The use of images Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II
in this paper money had become a case of copyright infringement, the picture allegedly used
