It’s incredible!
A Read the text and complete the gaps using can or can’t and the verbs below.

The Incredibles is a film about a family of superheroes. They have special powers, but they have to keep them
a secret. Mr Incredible is very strong and 1 heavy things easily. His wife, Elastigirl,

4 Which member of the family would you most like to be? Why?
5 Can you think of other superheroes? What special powers do they have?

Aims  To review and practise can / can’t and adverbs


Time  10−15 minutes
Materials  1 handout for each student
• Give each student a handout. Draw attention to the verbs
in task A and explain or demonstrate the meanings of any
which are unfamiliar. Tell students to complete task A, then
check answers as a class.

• Divide the class into pairs and tell them to discuss the
questions in task B. Get feedback from students on their ideas
and opinions.
• Tell students to look again at the text in A and find four
adverbs (easily, fast, well, loudly) introduced in lesson 2D.
• Tell students to complete task C. Check answers as a class.

• Working in pairs, students ask questions to find out if the
