Emotion always affects the heart, mind, and complete mental health of the person. Whenever we feel
good, we share with each other all the revelation and the words of affection. As a consequence, if we
become emotionally distressed, we are incompetent in obtaining or giving the relevant information,
advice, decision or solution to a particular situation or circumstance, thus, failing to develop successful
communication with others. It is essentially a matter of being conscious and aware of the situation, and
being willing to process and recognize feelings in order to communicate them simultaneously.
Communicating without emotion is just as thrilling as watching paint dry. One's inability to express
feelings when transmitting information to the receiver would certainly convey and decipher another
version of what you were trying to say. Take this situation where you monotonously say "that sounds
fun!" when someone wants to share their experiences on a particular subject than to say it with a tone of
great interest, it would only mean that you are disinterested in having a conversation. As a consequence,
it would make the sender feel insecure and completely shut down contact.
3. As a Licean, how would you use communication to express emotions to improve your relationship
with other people?
Emotion plays a significant role in our ability to communicate effectively. Expressing our emotions during
communication can either improve our relationships to become healthier and rewarding, or it could potentially
ruin our relationships, such as when expressions of frustration are mishandled or controlled during heated
conversations. As a Licean, the best thing I could do is to practice the use of emotions in a positive tone and
manner, expressing enthusiasm, drive, energy, trust and calmness. Through these characteristics, my relationship
with others will improve and grow to be true and genuine in the pursuit of happiness and peace.
