Science content coverage

 In this curriculum, there are three content areas covered: (1) Life Science; biology (2)
Physical Science; Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy and (3) Earth and Space Science.
Include the fundamental concepts in the discipline that have not changed over time and
are similar to concepts found in the basic education science curriculum in different
countries, key concepts that provide deeper understanding of scientific knowledge.
Nature of activities:
 Students are exposed to activities that has a variety of real-world science applications,
which helps them develop a more coherent understanding of the concept or process they
are learning. Also the Science activities are developed systematically wherein students
learn concepts at increasing levels of complexity.
Inquiry Skills
 Allow students to be actively engaged in designing and conducting investigations and
experimentations, which develop their inquiry skills involving asking questions about
the world, identifying and controlling variables, systematically collect and organize
data and communicate investigations, formulate explanations or models, analyzing
and evaluating information, procedures, and claims, make decisions based on sound
judgment and logical reasoning

Scientific attitudes:

 Actively engaging students in science that helps them develop good and scientific
attitudes such as being a/an; Critical Thinker, able to evaluate data and claims, make
informed decisions by analyzing problem with the use of credible evidences; Curious,
has a desire to know or to learn the world; Creative, able to see connections between
ideas and suggest innovative and relevant ways to solve problems; Honest, sees the
importance of reporting actual results of an investigation and not misleading others to
achieved desired result. Accurate, whom are striving for accuracy, avoiding careless
mistakes in recording data during experiment; Objective, can deal with facts and
conditions with being bias by their personal feelings or opinions; Independent thinker,
able to answer and come up with own ideas from observation, experiences, relevant data
and information; Lastly Science curriculum in secondary school help students to be an
Active Listener, Responsible, Initiative and persevere in or outside classroom setting.

Plant is a recurring concept that is included in the curriculum as a separate topic as early as Grade 3 up
to senior level. It is even possible that the concept in its simplest form have even been included in other
learning areas like topics dealing with environment or ecosystems, types of cells and cell theory.
