Emma Donoghue
BIRTH
Emma Donoghue was born in Dublin, Ireland, in
October 1969, and she was the youngest of the 8
children her parents had. Her mother was Denis
Donoghue, a renown literature critic
LIFE
She firstly studied at University College, in Dublin, but in 1990 she moved
to England as she went looking for a PhD from Cambridge, which she
obtained in 1997. She became a writer at 23 and later on in 1998 she
moved to London with her husband Chris Roult, her daughter Una, and
her son Finn
WRITINGS
She has written 7 novels, 4 short stories and two
literary histories, as well as one book for children.
her most recent writing is her novel "The pull of the
stars", released in 2020
AWARDS
She was won 18 awards throughout her writing journey,
the last award she earned was the Commonwealth
Writers Prize in 2011, also, the film of her book "The
room", directed by Lenny Abrahamson, has earned 17
awards
