TRAINING DESIGN
I. Title:
School Learning Action Cell (SLAC): School-Based Intensive Training Workshop on Beginning
Reading, Utilization of Functional Literacy Assessment (Flat) And Phil-IRI Tools for Teachers and
Reading Volunteer Teachers.
II. Rationale:
Relative to the key activities in the implementation of Brigada Pagbasa specified in Annex A
of Department Memorandum OU-LAPP No. 0-267, s.2021 and in response to DepEd’s Sulong
Edukalidad: Bawat Bata Bumabasa initiative as well as in coherence with Agusan del Norte’s
Project REaL, Cabayawa Elementary School shall conduct School Learning Action Cell (SLAC):
Intensive School-Based Training Workshop on Beginning Reading, Utilization of Functional
Literacy Assessment (FLAT) and Phil-IRI Tools for the effective implementation of the program.
III. Objectives:
This activity is driven with the following objectives:
a. Capacitate reading volunteers-(parent volunteers, volunteer reading teachers) on methods
and techniques to teach beginning reading and the use of DepEd Prescribed Reading
Remediation Toolkit.
b. Capacitate neophyte teachers in the proper administration of Functional Literacy
Assessment and PHIL-IRI tools.
c. Enhance experienced teachers capabilities in the conduct of reading remediation.
d. Provide technical assistance to teachers and reading volunteers on the conduct of reading
remediation under new normal situation.
IV. Description:
This is a combination of face-to-face and virtual six-day training workshop which will be
participated by 8 regular/permanent teachers, one (1) parent volunteer, and five (5) volunteer
reading teachers via Google meet ( volunteers and WFH Teachers) and F2F (WFH Teachers).
V. Budgetary Requirements: Meals and Snacks @ 150/pax for 34days

1. Relative to the key activities in the implementation of Brigada Pagbasa specified in

3. In line with this, all teachers and volunteer reading teachers are encouraged to
participate on the aforementioned activity.
