This document summarizes three educational technologies: Teacher Desmos, GeoGebra, and PHET Interactive Simulations.
For Teacher Desmos, the author provides an example activity on linear functions transformations and recommends students write responses in notebooks. For GeoGebra, an example activity on inscribed angles is described that allows visual exploration. PHET Interactive Simulations has a lesson on the "Plinko Probability" simulation to guide students through exploring probability concepts. Reflection questions are included for each technology.

Technology 1: Teacher Desmos Linear Functions Transformation https://teacher.desmos.com/acti vitybuilder/custom/5dc8af895b 354556418dff74 Discovery Activity for Teacher Desmos ● There are 37 slides in the Desmos example I provided. As the teacher, I would set a pace so my students could not move too far ahead. ● I would want my students to write down their responses to all the generalization slides in their notebooks so they can look back on it later. The generalization slides I would go back over with the class to make sure that they all have the correct rules. These rules are the most important part of this exercise. ● I would also like them to write all of their written responses into their notebooks. They are valuable insights that I want my students to be able to look back on. Reflection Time! What did you like about this Teacher Desmos? Is there anything you would change about my activity or the Teacher Desmos? Technology 2: GeoGebra https://www.geogebra.org/m/C7 dutQHh#material/UdXwSHVj Exploratory Activity for GeoGebra
GeoGebra has an immense about of
resources for all upper level math. I focused in on the geometry resources for my workshop example. I found an activity for inscribed angles on a circle. Inscribed Angles GeoGebra has these really cool applets that allow the students to explore and experiment with circles in a way they never could before. It provides them with a visual to understand the concept better.
GeoGebra also has questions that the
kids have to answer. These questions perfectly add onto what they are doing with the applet. It guides them through their exploration.
As a teacher I would assign these tasks
to the class through their classroom function, so that way I can monitor my students progress. Reflection Time!
1. What excites you about GeoGebra?
2. Do you think you will ever use GeoGebra in the future?
3. Is there anything you did not like about GeoGebra?
Technology 3: PHET Interactive Simulations Simulation Summary: https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations/plinko-probability/about Simulation: https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/plinko-probability/latest/plinko- probability_en.html Activity: https://phet.colorado.edu/services/download-servlet?filename=%2Fa ctivities%2F4436%2Fphet-contribution-4436-7927.pdf Exploratory Lesson for PHET PHET Interactive Simulations is made by the University of Colorado. They have a ton of simulations on a variety of topics. They are all free to use.
They also provide you with lessons that other
users have submitted. Plinko Probability I explored some of the teacher submitted lessons and found I liked. If I did not find one I liked, I would make one of my own. The lesson I am including was made by Susan Miller for high school or middle school students.
It guides the students through their
learning and enriches experiences with probability. The simulation drives their exploration and gives them a visual they otherwise would not have had. Reflection Time! What did you like and dislike about PHET? Do you think student would benefit from the simulation? What was your favorite technology shown? Any Questions? Thank you for listening! I hope these technologies can help you in the future!
