The meanings of these idioms:

● Hit the road - to start the journey


● Off the beaten track - far away from where many people live
● Break the journey - to stop somewhere for a while during a long journey
● In the same boat - to be in a similar situation, often difficult
● Miss the boat - to be too late for something, to miss an opportunity
● Drive (someone) up the wall - to do something that irritates someone
● Highways and byways - major and minor roads
● In the driver’s seat – to be in charge/control

● To head for - go to/towards something
