Any operation beyond the indicated power data is not al~ lowable. Any change at the complete product or the power data is to be advised to the maker to be approved by him prior to the performance of such change. + The date of putting into operation is to be advised to the maker without fail. ‘ + Moreover the maker is to be informed immediately on any shutdowns or a sale of the new or already used product to any third party. 3011467/4 Sheet 1/2 General safety instructions + No changes whatsoever must be carried out at the product which particularly refers to the attachment or the remo~ val of parts. Repair work must only be done with original parts of the maker, The use of other components, which have not been explicitely approved by the product maker, is inad- missible. For work to be carried out at the product special pro~ tection clothes must be worne, e.g. protection helmet, goggles, gloves and shoes. Do not stay underneath suspended load during transportation. Adhere to the local precautionary instructions. + Protect the product from fire and open light. + Any work at the electronic system of the product must be carried out by skilled personnel exclusively. Electric components, in particular terminal boxes, starters, etc. must not be opened in energized condition. (current shock!) + Any setting points adjusted by the maker at monitoring and control instruments, such as _ pressostats, valves, throttles, etc. must not be changed. + Do not loosen any pipe or flange connections while the plant is running. There is a special risk with regard to the high-pressure hydraulic systen. + Do not open any inspection hole covers during operation. Do not touch any interal rotating parts, not even by objects. + Prior to any work requiring a complete or partial ope- ning it is to be ensured definitely that the installa~ tion cannot be driven in any way whatsoever. + Never touch any rotating parts at the free shaft outlets! + Individual product components might become hot -during continuous operation. Upon opening the gear case, the sealing lacquer may be peeled off or else removed with the aid of a solvent. Bright parts, such as shaft journals etc., are protected by a rust preventive coating, which can easily be removed by a solvent, e.g. trichlorethylene. e internals of the gear are preserved, the preservation lasting about 12 months. stallation 1. Foundation The high-speed gear unit must be set up on a robust, vibration free and level base. It is necessary to use @cast iron or structural steel frame provided with'machined ‘mounting pads, the base to be embedded in concrete. The foundation should be such that the centre of the shaft of the machine to be coupled is approximately 1 mm (0.040) higher than the centre of the gear shaft. Perfect alignment can be achieved by putting adequate shims underneath the gear unit. 2. Alignment: The shafts to be coupled must, when actually running, be accurately aligned. To achieve this, check both the axial and angular misalignment by means of the gauging attachment shown in the illustration. Likewise, even when using flexible couplings, the same precautions for careful trueing up must be taken. For the alignment, the heat expansion of the housing in height and lateral as well as the movement of the gear shafte within the bearing clearance according to the enclosed alignment table have to be taken into account. High-speed gear sid The correct alignment of the gear shaft with the shaft of the machine to be connected is to be checked by dial gauges. Rotate both shafts together. Half the sum of the maximum deflections of the two dial gauges is the angular misalignment. i Low-speed gear side For the alignment of the shafts to be coupled at the low speed side of the gear, the same instructions apply. When aligning the unit in cold condition (ambient temperature) make sure that for both coupling points the different heat expansion (foundation, machines, etc.) and the movement of the gear shafts within the bearing clearance during service are taken into account, so that the best alignment possible is ensured in hot service condition under load. Upon completing alignment, the gear case should be dowe base. If the gear case has been opened, the joints of ed and securely bolted down onto the the housing must be re~sealed, preferably with "Teroson Atmosit" or a similar high-grade sealing compound. The contact surfaces must be clean and coated with a sifficiently diluted layer of compound to guarantee a faying seat for the bearings. Upon trueing-up the gear with the driving and the driven machine and tightening the foundation bolts, the alignment must be checked againt following the first run under load. See Sheet 3/9 0037760/4 engl. QPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR HIGH-SPEED GEAR UNITS REN TACKE 3. Couplings: only balanced couplings may be used. Couplings must not be fitted until the shaft ends and hub bores have been thoroughly cleaned. Pulling on and pulling off the coupling must be carried out by Proper means, the hubs may be heated up. Sharp-edged or impact-type tools must not be used. The low-speed shaft of the gear is guided in an axial bearing. Therefore, with a rigid coupling (flange coupling) the shaft of the connected machine must have enough axial freedom to take-up the heat extension of the shaft. The driving and coupling details of the contract and of the installation drawing must not be changed. 4. Accessories: In order to protect accessories such as pressure gauges, oil flow indicators, thermometers, etc., from damage during transit, they are packed separately. They must be | connected in an oiltight manner to the points provided for them on the gear case. 5. Oil filter cooler, oil collecting tank: The oil must be fine filtered before being introduced into the gear unit. For constant cleaning of the oil, a fine filter screen with 6.000 to 8,000 meshes per cm’ (size of ‘meshes 0.08 mm) is required, The pressure decrease in the clean filter shall not exceed a maximum of 0.5 bar. The oil cooler shall be dimensioned to safely dissipate the heat specified on the installation drawing with an oil outlet temperature from the gear unit of 50 to 60°C. : The oil cooler must be installed so that during service no air cushions will build-up in the cooler. Sheet 4/9 - 0037760/4 engt ori OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR HIGH-SPEED GEAR UNITS RENK TACKE The oil collecting tank must be capable of holding at least five times the quantity delivered per minute by the oil pump and it must be located to satisfy the conditions set forth in section 5° (oil. pump). 6. Piping All pipe connections on the gear unit are provided with blind flanges. These must be removed and the pipings connected oiltight and airproof after having been thoroughly cleaned by pickling and with brushes. (Rinsing and blowing alone are not sufficient). The oil cooler must also be cleaned before installation. If possible, the oil return piping from the gear unit to the oil collecting tank should be without bends and in a regular slope. The pipe diameter specified in the installation drawing must not be reduced, 7. Safequarding the gear unit: The equipment shall be protected by a contact pressure gauge or amanometric switch and a contact thermometer that trip a visible or audible alarm. The contact thermometer must be mounted into the oil return pipe close by the gear unit. The contact pressure gauge must be located between the pressure regulating valve and the gear unit, ina vibration-free place. Wiring must be so that with excessive increase or decrease of pressure, the prime mover is cut out. Where separate oil pumps are used, the electrical wiring of the pump motor must be arranged such that‘the prime mover is automatically cut out when the current, the motor of the pump fail. Checking the direction of rotation: The direction of rotation marked by the arrows on the gear case must be checked. Starting the Gear Unit 1, Oi} filling: The oil collecting tank must be filled with the specified quantity of oil in conformity with the attached oil chart. It is not allowed to mix different types of oil. 2, Starting: - The built-on pump must be filled with oil at the suction side before the first start. Close the filling hole airtight. Before and during the starting period, the gear unit must be lubricated by a separate oil pump until the main oil pump driven by the gear unit and depending on the number of revolutions has reached the service speed and the oil pressure at the inlet to the gear unit comes up to the value marked on the name plate, with an oil inlet temperature of 40 to 45°C. If the gear unit is started without preheating of the oil, care should be taken that at least 60 % of the oil quantity specified in the installation drawing are delivered to the gear unit. When the gear unit is stopped, lubrication must be ensured by adding the pump aggregate until the gear unit is actually at a standstill. 3. Running-in the gea It is advisable to run the gear under partial load at first, and gradually increase to full load (several hours at 1/3, then several hours at 2/3 load). Sheet 6/9 00 37760/4 engi OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR HIGH-SPEED GEAR UNITS RENK TACKE Maintenance during operation: Maintenance includes checking of the oil pressure by the pressure gauge and of the temperature by the thermometer, both at the oil inlet to the gear unit. With an oil inlet temperature of 40 to 45 °C, the oil pressure specified on the nameplate of the gear unit must be maintained with a tolerance of 0.3 bar. Besides the admissible oil inlet temperature of 40 to 45°C, the temperature of the oil leaving the gear unit must also be continuously checked. If with unchanged service conditions the temperature of the oil leaving the gear unit increases suddendly by more than 3 °C, the gear unit must be shut down and the reason must be found. This must also be done, if with unchanged service conditions, the smooth running (vibration quality) of the gear unit is reduced. 5. Later, the filter should be checked and cleaned approximately every 100 hours, until the cleanness of the filter permits longer intervals. Qil change: The 41 shall be changed for the first time after about 2,000 service hours. The conditions of the lubricant will govern further oil changes. Sheet 8/9 0037760/4 engl. Notes: It 4s advisable to check the alignment of the installation after one year's service and to compensate for any possible displacement of the foundation. The preservation of the gear unit becomes inoperative after the first start. Installations submitted to periods of shut-down between running periods must be preserved anew. The kind of intermediate preservation must be decided for each case. Further details on demand, We recommend to inspect the gear unit any 8,000 to 10,000 service hours. Sheet 9/9 0037760/4 engl.
