7. ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION

7.1 Installation Guide according manufacturer recommendation/instructions & steps as below:

1. According isometric drawing, piping support standard specification and ANNEX B (Non-Metallic Pipe
Vinyl Resin Wear Pad Specification / Details) of this procedure, shall be applied/selected the
proper/correct Vinyl Wear Pad based on piping diameter/size, length and wall thickness.

2. Clean the piping surface to remove scale, paint and other debris with emery cloth / sandpaper / power
tooling or wire brushing (where applicable in order to remove the painting in the area/region to be
installed the Vinyl Wear Pad). Also, the sandpaper grit size for both parts (metallic and Vinyl Pad)
shall be P80.

3. Use MEK solvent to remove the contamination and ensure that the area is clean and dry.

4. Wipe the inside of the Vinyl wear pad removing dust and debris.

5. Use emery cloth / sandpaper (grit size shall be P80 to be used for metallic part and Vinyl Pad) to
rough the interior to ensure that there is a proper/suitable surface for the epoxy to bond.

See Figure 1:

6. Apply continuous epoxy adhesive film over the entire/inside internal Vinyl Pad surface (including on
corners/edges) in order to minimize the possibility of future crevice corrosion. Also, the epoxy
adhesive (see Figure 6) shall be handled, prepared/mixed and applied according to ANNEXES A & C
of this procedure.

See Figure 2:

Applying Epoxy Adhesive to Non-Metallic Wear Pad (Vinyl Pad). See also item 7.2 & ANNEX C.

WEAR PADS Rev. B

7. Firmly press pad in place rotating pad to spread the Epoxy out.

See Figure 3:

8. Band Vinyl pad in place using band straps or ratchet straps regardless the diameter/size in order to
ensure a proper cure of the epoxy adhesive without relative movement of parts.

See Figure 4:

9. Apply bead of epoxy around exterior edge of Vinyl wear pad to ensure a complete seal.

See Figure 5:

WEAR PADS Rev. B

10.Allow between 4 and 6 hours for the Epoxy to harden, and then remove the straps (see additional
details/information on item 7.2).

See Figure 6:

11.After conclusion of the installation procedure (previous steps/stages carried out by Production Team),
shall be performed a Visual Inspection by QA/QC Team/Inspector, in order to check/follow-up the
compliance of this procedure and there is no gaps and crevices between pad and pipe and/or
misplacing relative to the support saddles.

PRODUCTS, the maximum operating temperature for the wear pad is 400 degF (or 204 degC).

3. Refer attached “PTP Epoxy Gray Technical Data.pdf” for the epoxy adhesive recommended by the
vendor, the temperature range for the adhesive is -60 ~ 150 degC.

4. Refer to attached “05.09_P68_SPPIDx3D_Process Data.xlsm” (SPPID database for JHB/DGR P&IDs),

although there are some lines with design temperature > 150 degC, but the operating temperature of
these lines are still < 150 degC (maximum operating temperature is 130 degC). All lines with operating
temperature between 100~130 degC are mainly HWP & F system.

5. JHB understand the recommended epoxy adhesive from vendor is acceptable. TUPI BV please
confirm the acceptance.
