December 2021

It is without reservation that I provide this letter of support for Lillian Faust as she pursues a
teaching position within your school district. I have had the pleasure of working with Lillian since the
Spring of 2021 when she completed her 90 hours of observations within my fourth-grade classroom. She
then went on to complete student teaching within my classroom this Fall. During that time, I watched as
she developed her craft as a classroom teacher and can state unequivocally that she is ready to begin her
career as a full-time classroom teacher.
Lillian first impressed me by developing a strong rapport with the students based on respect and
the ability to listen to their needs. She is able to ascertain their needs and address them according to their
student’s learning styles while providing encouragement and direction. She will develop several methods
to deliver lessons based on what is needed. Lillian is able to develop and deliver lessons in a clear and
thoughtful manner. She is always encouraging students to participate and will look for the “teachable
moment” in all her lessons. Students feel safe and will participate even when unsure of having the correct
answer. This often leads to a deeper understanding of the subject material being presented.

Lillian has developed a strong bond with all staff she encountered at our school. She has
participated in all staff meetings and grade level planning events. She offered her thoughtful suggestion
and feedback whenever possible. The teacher on the fourth-grade team came to see her as an integral part
of the team. When I was out for a medical issue, she stepped in and did not miss a beat. She took over
the daily duties and came to hone her own classroom management style which the students responded to
in a positive manner. Lillian possesses that characteristic that makes one a “born educator”. She will
make a positive impact on all those she teaches and works with in the future. She will be an asset to your
district.

On a personal level, I have taught for over 20 years and can say that I learned a great deal from
her. She researches and applies many different methods to get a curriculum across to the students. I will
use many of the lessons she taught me in my classroom even after she completes her student teaching.
She has become a colleague who is open and honest, thoughtful and direct, skills that will serve her well
in her future endeavors. I have had several student teachers throughout the years but Lillian is by far the
most prepared for her first day in her own classroom.

I would be happy to further discuss Lillian’s qualifications and would be happy to do so. I
thoroughly support her
