In Rizal staying in the U.S.

A, he wrote an impression about this country and it is good and bad,

for the good impressions were:
1. The material progress of the country as shown in the great cities, huge farms, flourishing
industries, and busy factories;
2. The drive and the energy of the American people;
3. The natural beauty of the land;
4. The high standard of living;
5. The opportunities for a better life are offered to poor immigrants.
And for the bad impression, Rizal had of America was the lack of racial equality. Because of
racial prejudice which was inconsistent with the principle of democracy and freedom which I
think is still an issue today in America and some corners of the world. And Rizal believes that
America “is the land par excellence of freedom but only for the whites”. And when Jose
Alejandro ask Rizal of what impression Rizal have about America, Rizal answered Ponce that
they do not have a true liberty because racism exist in their country wherein hatred and
discrimination also exists.
And for me the one important happenings in Rizal visit in America is the writing of his diary
which is really detailed from May 7 to May 13 which states his beautiful memories from
Nevada, Chicago until he reached Albany. Which is a sign that Rizal enjoyed his stay in the
countries mentioned. which is for me it is an important and significant basis today as to whether
the culture and beliefs they have in hundreds of years ago remain the same in this contemporary
world.

Rizal showed great courage and intelligence that many young Filipinos should learn. They
founded the Asociacion La Solidaridad to defeat the friars in the Philippines who were the ruling
classes in the country by that time. Rizal's efficiency and heroism in fighting through his writing
who will risk his life are incomparable. To be able to have freedom, a better political system,
liberty, and equality. In fighting for democracy, Rizal taught the value of dignity that it is better
to die for the benefit of the majority.
Love is able to wait depending on the responsibility we must prioritize. Gertrude Beckett is a
beautiful young woman, but before Rizal fell in love with the young woman, he left her for his
important mission. And for me, it is a representation that, whatever we do in our life there are
many obstacles for it to become a reason why it is not to continue but if we have a good and
constant plan nothing can be impossible. Just like what Rizal did for living London because of
his burning mission.
