11. Read the following and answer the questions: [5]

Pollination is the transfer of pollen grain (shed from the anther) to the stigma of a pistil.
Flowering plants have evolved an amazing array of adaptation to achieve pollination.
There are three different kinds of pollination. Pollination within the same flower that is
self-- pollination. Some plants produce two types of flower chasmogamous and
cleistogamous. Another kind of pollination is the transfer of pollen grain from the
anther to the stigma ofthe same plant or anther to the stigma of different plants.
Various agents are used in pollination. Water, wind, and animal carry out pollination.
i. Pollination which is achieved with in the same flower is termed as:
a. Autogamy c. Geitonogamy
b. Xenogamy d. None of these
ii. The abiotic agent of pollination is:
a. wind c. animal
b. water d. Both (a) and (b)
iii. Which of the following feature should be present for wind pollination?
a. Non-sticky and light pollen grain
b. The long stalk of flower
c. Colourful flower
d. None of these

iv. Wind pollination is common in:
a. Vallisneria c. Grasses
b. Hydrilla d. Zostera
v. Which among the following plant is hydrophilous?
a. Water Hyacinth c. Zoestra
b. Water lily d. Maize

12. Read the following and answer the questions: [5]

Humans are sexually reproducing and viviparous it involves male and female
reproductive systems. The male reproductive system is located in the pelvis region. It
includes a pair of testis along with accessory ducts, glands and the external genitalia.
The testes are situated outside the abdominal cavity with in a pouch called the scrotum.
A dense covering covers the testis. Each testis has about 250 compartments. Each
lobule contains one to three highly coiled seminiferous tubules in which sperms are
produced. Each seminiferous tubule is lined on its inside by two types of cells. The
regions outside the seminiferous tubules called interstitial spaces contain small blood
vessels. Seminiferous tubules of the testis open uito the vasa efferentia through rete
testis. The vasa efferentia leave the testis and open into epididymis located along the
posterior surface of each testis.
i. The vas deferens receives duct from the seminal vesicle and opens into the
urethra as

a. epididymis c. urinary bladder

b. ejaculatory duct d. ureter

ii. Which one of the following is not a male accessory gland

a. Seminal vesicle c. Prostate
b. Ampulla d. Bulbourethral gland
iii. The temperature of the scrotum, w h i c h i s n e c e s s a r y f o r t h e
f u n c t i o n i n g o f t h e t e s t is , is always around below body temperature
a. 20C c. 40C
b. 2-2.50C d. 6-6.50C

iv. The nutritive cells found in seminiferous tubules are

a. Leydig's cells c. Sertoli cells
b. Male germ cells d. Testicular lobules

a. Rete testis c. Vas deferens

have a perisperm. Explain each with the help of an example. [2]
16. Why papaya and date palm plants are said to be dioecious, whereas cucurbits and
coconut palms monoecious, in spite of all of them bearing unisexual flowers? [2]
