Dear Whomever,

I am writing to express my interest in an internship at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. This

opportunity appears to be very exciting, and I believe it would be a great step in furthering my
experiences during my undergraduate education as well as in my interests as a future medical
doctor. I believe that my strong academic background and my previous medical experiences have
provided me with the credentials needed to be a successful intern at this hospital.

Completing my undergraduate schooling at Texas Christian University has allowed me to take

classes such as Anatomy and Physiology and Psychology. These classes have a created my
strong academic background, especially pertaining to the human body, as they have provided me
with the knowledge of how the structures in the human body work together and function, as well
as understanding the human mind and why people behave in certain ways. Through my previous
internship at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, I have acquired several different
skills and my deep desire to work with children. I have gained experience in patient care, and I
have developed strong communication skills as that is essential when understanding the wants
and needs of the children and their families. Working with children at this hospital for three
years has allowed me to foster skills such as caring for those who are in pain, having a strong
imagination since that is essential in a child’s growth, and most importantly working in a team to
improve the health of a child. I have found that children tend to express themselves through their
creativity, so playing along with the fairytales and dragons has provided me with a different
perspective in understanding how they feel through their time at a hospital. My experience as
working in the healthcare field has been eye-opening because not only is it about the children,
but it is also about providing comfort to their parents during this frightening time. I have enjoyed
my time working at this children’s hospital because children bring light to the environment with
their positivity and imagination even during a scary time.

My internship at Cook Children’s Hospital and my dedication to continue strong in my

academics during undergraduate school further bolster my qualifications to become a successful
intern at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. I definitely believe that my previous internship has
taught me plenty of skills, not only as a healthcare worker but as a person as well, and I am ready
to apply those skills with this new opportunity.
