Case Analysis

Teacher Ed, a Grade 10 AP Teacher in Pag-asa National High School used a discussion
method in teaching Greek civilization. In the discussion, he wanted students to learn the
significant events in ancient Greece, the importance of democracy in students’ lives, and
other contributions to the modern world. He observed that although students participate in the
discussion by answering his questions, they are still passive and have no personal connection
with the topic.

Analysis Questions.
1. What is the problem/s Teacher Ed want/s to address?
The problem that Teacher Ed wants to address is his students. He observed that his
students are passive in answering his questions, and he have seen that his students have no
personal connection with the topic.

2. What method (it could be a task or output with technology integration or use of
technology itself) would you propose to Teacher Ed? (Assume that Pag-asa National
High School has the available technology/resources).
I would like to propose Teacher Ed to let his students make a video animated project,
by the use of VYOND. VYOND will let the students to create a fun animated presentation,
they can make their own presentation through this app. The students can animate the
significant events, importance of democracy and other contributions to the modern world of
ancient Greece civilization. These app students can manipulate, they can select the character
they want, they can add audio/music, they can add text, and a lot more to offer to make a
presentation become more knowledgeable. And it is very interesting and surely that students
will enjoy while learning. By simply making an account and activating it, students can make
their presentation and it could be done by group.

3. What would be the relative advantage of the method you are proposing?
 Variety of Perspective – students will be able to create beyond their
knowledge in making video presentation through sharing their ideas. And they
can create a lot of ideas on animating it, compared when they are just going to
answer the questions.
 Improve student skills in using computer – students would be able to
improve their skills in using computer, we can test the editing skills of the
students on how they are going to make their presentation unique.
 Collaboration – students would be able to share them to their classmates the
video that they make and all of them can learn about their thoughts to the topic
given.

4. What would be Teacher Ed’s objective and assessment strategies?

 Construction of Ideas – at least 75% of the score by group would be able to
create a unique presentation of ideas. (Use an existing rubric to grade skills)
 Knowledge to the topic presented – All students will score at least 17 out of
20 on a short-answer test (assess achievement with a test).
 Creativity of the presentation – each group must gain 45% out of 50% score
from the other group (assess achieve through feedback)
5. What would be the approach to using the technology?
 Constructivist Approach
6. What should Teacher Ed do to analyze if students achieved the objectives or a need
for revision?
Teacher Ed will use the video presentation to be submitted by the students as his
evidence to decide if they met the objectives or there is a need of revision to be more success
next time. Teacher Ed may use a checklist as his basis or tools for assessment to determine if
the given project is worth it:
1. Achievement – if the original problem of Teacher Ed was his students is passive
and has no personal connection to the subject, is there any improvement with
regards to the students learning through connecting the subject to their lives? Can
they answer Teacher Ed questions as active learners?
2. Technical skills – Did Teacher Ed didn’t expect for the presentation of the
students? Are the students creating unique presentation, presenting their ideas
with the use of technology? They make worse or better presentation?
