Define the terms: "logistics" and "supply chain"
Logistics: can be defined as the management of the flow of goods, information and other
resources, energy and people between the point of origin and the point of consumption in
order to meet the needs of consumers.
Supply Chain: It can be defined as a network of facilities and distribution options that
performs the function of sourcing materials, transforming these materials into intermediate
and finished products, and distributing these finished products to customers.

What does logistics management imply?

Logistics involves the integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehousing,
material handling, packaging, and security.

Describe what service providers do in order to increase efficiency of the supply

chain

In the case of having several sources of supply, this “causes deliveries of different quality;
each production process has its own variability, which makes the supplies differ from each
other”. This is because quality is the responsibility of the supplier, who, before making
deliveries directly to the production line of the client company, must verify that the
components meet the specified specifications.
On the contrary, having few sources of supply also brings with it some risks, of which the
most important is mutual dependence, since “intense relationships favor trust and avoid
susceptibilities, making cooperation easier in solving problems. A single source of supplies
will have no incentive to invest in process improvements or product technology. "

Define the “logistics re-engineering” process and its factors.

Supervision of daily activities

Supervising the daily activities, and anticipating the client's requirements and maintaining a
good relationship with him, are other of his functions.
To which we can add the activities of managing the launch of new programs within the
plant. All this to guarantee customer satisfaction.
Team management
Leading logistics teams and setting objectives are other responsibilities of these
professionals.
Specify the main function of a qualified logistician

Apply reengineering to create a new way of carrying out the logistics process without this
being a new version of the previous one, but a completely new process that, now, in
comparison, is considerably more efficient.
In this sense, the relationship between reengineering and logistics is extremely intimate
due to the need for efficiency intrinsic to the logistics sector itself. Logistics, to be
productive and profitable, needs to optimize all processes to the maximum. Therefore,
although logistics processes can be reformulated to make them more efficient compared to
the previous model, in many cases a complete reformulation is necessary.

Specify the responsibilities of professional logisticians

Define the company's transport policy between the production and / or storage sites and
the clients.
Organize relationships with carriers, modify and negotiate subcontractor contracts.
Supervise the organization of the internal flows of the factories.
Organize stocks of finished products, raw materials and consumables.
Ensure supplies and optimize stocks based on the production plan, obstacles in the
factories and sales forecasts, in relation to marketing.
Work closely with purchases so that logistical difficulties are integrated into your
negotiations with suppliers.
Being in charge of the organization and management of the logistics or distribution
platforms and encourages the teams that are there.
Accompany the development and evolution of the information system.
The scope of logistics spans the entire organization, from raw material management to
finished product delivery. The mission of logistics management is to plan and coordinate
all the activities necessary to achieve the desired levels of service and quality at the lowest
possible cost.
