Welcome to the Theatre Guild's final show of
the 92/93 season. This is our second show in our new
home. If you were here for our last show, you will note
Compliments of: a few additional changes. Our big plans are for this
GEORGIA summer. When you return in the fall you should see
substantial additions. A blueprint of the building and a rendering of the new
SULFUR facade are on display in the lobby for you to see. Large and small contributions

The Valdosta Playhouse

In July, 1992, theTheatre Guild Valdosta, after four years ofplaying "on the road", took the Malcolm Rainey, Producer
bold step of purchasing our own home. The old Dosta Theatre seemed tous the perfect facility to
become a home for live community theatre for Valdosta and the surrounding area. What you see
tonight isthe first step in a major renovation effort that will require neariy a quarter of a million dollars Denise Steptoe, Director
and several yearsof effort.

Many members ofTGV havededicated hundreds of hours oftheir time and several local
businesses and individuals have donated materials and labor to our effort. What once was a sagging,
termite riddled lobby floor has been totally replaced with new support and flooring. Ahandicapped
accessble restroom has been addedto the mainfloor and the mainrestrooms on the mezzanine level
have been renovated. New fire safety fixtures, including exit lights and emergency lighting, have been
installed. Additional electrical work has been done to improve safety and provide the necessary power May 13,14,15,16,20,21,22,1993
to operate standard stage lighting fixtures.

In addition totheabove, theold stage, designed for film presentation, was removed anda
new 980 square foot stage built. You will note that the old proscenium arch is still in place, a Valdosta Playhouse
continuing reminder of where we began several months ago. New seating, which we hope you will find Downtown Valdosta
comfortable, has also been added.

Jeffrey Robert Swanson This is Denise Steptoe's (Director) swan song for TGV, as she will be moving to Douglas following this

Cherie Cade makes her first appearance with TGV as Florence. Cherie hails from California where she

Theaction takes place in the living room of The Cloisters Michael Lowe lends his talents to the character of Hannibal. Michael has been seen numerous times in TGV
productions including Brighton BeachMemoirs, Bus Stop,The Fantasticks, and AllTheWay Home.
ACT I
Scene 1 - Night Mary Helen Kamarad plays Fairy May and finally hasenough lines to make the effort worth while. The queen
Scene 2 - The Next Morning of theone liners lovesthe theatre andwantsthe bigger roles to keep coming.

ACT II
Robert Swanson, another newcomer to TGV, plays the role of Jeffrey. He has performed with the Tifton and
Albany theatre groups wherehe performed in MyFair Lady.
Scene 1 - That night, after dinner
Scene 2 - A few nights later Mrs. Paddy is played byMary AnnGreen Veteran audiences will remember heras Mama RoseinGypsy. She
hasalsodirected several showsincluding You Can'tTake ttWithYou, Brighton BeachMemoirs, AllMySons,
ACT III andAllThe Way Home.
A few minutes later
Rick Patrick plays the role of Titus. A newcomer toTGV, Rick has beenactive with other groups since1978.

Samuel is played byJerry Ellis. Jerry is past president ofTGV and hasdone just about everything elsethat

Our upcoming season is going to be our best ever. We have plans for five great performances,
including two musicals. Watch the Newsletter and other publicity for details. Now that we have our new home,
we will be offering Season Tickets for the first time. Prices have not been set atthis time, but you can expect
a substantial discount over single ticket prices plus discounts on any other activities sponsored by TGV.
Ambassadors Live!

Have you seen our repertory company, Ambassadors Live? If not, they will be performing for the
Civitan sponsored Memorial Day weekend activities on May 29. Watch for publicity. Also, they will be performing
in Waycross, Quitman and other locations throughout June. Watch the Newsletter for details on this exciting
group of performers. The group is also available for performances for civic and other groups. If you have aneed,
