Pitches for Final Project

Pitch Idea One: Role of Parents in Fighting Drug Abuse Amongst Youths in The
Community.
Drug abuse has been a significant challenge faced by youths today. This is as a result of
peer pressure, inadequate finances, and poor parenting coupled with neglecting the needs of the
youths. Statistics indicate that approximately 4% of American teenagers (which is a quite larger
population in the productive age), have involved themselves in drug and substance abuse
(American Addiction Centres). At the heart of the community are parents trying their best to help
their children overcome the menace of drug abuse. Over time, the problem has, however, seemed
an absolutely hard task for most of these parents due to the inadequate sources of information to
refer to for the benefits of their children.
In essence, one of my proposals includes educating parents on how to involve teenagers
in regular family projects, which at times is an impossibility, especially when the teenage stage
sets in. By youths becoming involved, they feel a sense of worth and belonging and are able to
utilize their free time more constructively. Such an approach is key to fighting drug use among
the youths in the community.
Parents should also ensure that the company of their children is morally appealing. In
addition, they must also identify the places of stay for their children’s friends. Such an act seems
minute but very crucial. If a child hangs out with the wrong group, he or she will most likely end
up behaving like other members of the group (Narconon Freedom Centre). Feeding children with
the correct content from childhood to the youthful stage is also very critical to fighting drug
abuse; they say garbage in garbage out. Right content equips them with ideas on how to avoid
being trapped in drug abuse. Therefore, with the above measures in place, we stand at a great
opportunity to protect the future of the youth who are also our future leaders.

Pitch Idea Two: Improving Employee Performance in Organizations.

Most employees are not able to perform rightly in their duties as per the expectations of
various organizations, thus slowing down the development in specific fields of work in the
organization. In recent years, most organizations have complained of unreliable employees at
workplaces due to dismal employee performance. Various measures can be put in place to
enhance employees’ workability.
First, proper compensation of employees according to work delivered will help in
motivating them. As a result, employees will find it easier, committing to doing what they are
supposed to do, enhancing their performance. When the majority of employees do this at the
place of work, the overall productivity of an organization also increases. Offering employees
various work incentives will also aid in motivating them and improving their performance. Such
incentives may include extra cash for staying at work beyond the scheduled working hours.

Organizational culture is another most essential tool for enhancing employee

performance. It is vital that employees are treated with respect as colleagues and not as slaves.
The mode of communication from the top leadership should always have words that show value
for a specific individual. When an organizational culture emphasizes on the need to respect
employees, they feel a sense of belonging and will work to give their best. Employers must also
learn to acknowledge and recognize the efforts of their employees (Seppala and Cameron). This
can be done by celebrating their achievements, however small. When an employee realizes that
there is an appreciation for every affirmative act, he or she will work hard to deliver the best. All
the mentioned factors are thus important in improving the performance of employees in
organizations.
