Stair Step to Success

In order to complete your first Classroom Based Assessment you need
to take six steps…

Step 1 Presentation Style

Step 2 Choosing a Topic
Step 3 Conducting Research
Step 4 Planning your Speech
Step 5 Writing your speech
Step 6 Reflection

You will complete these steps with guidance in your student booklet
being issued in tomorrow's lesson.
 Step 1 Presentation Style
Following our lesson today you will decide whether you want to present individually
or in a group.
Remember!
● You must present for three minutes
● Maximum of three people per group.
● You will still be writing a full speech even if in a group (Intro, 3
paragraphs + a conclusion).

Step 2 Choosing a Topic

At the beginning of week two you will decide what topic you will be presenting on.

Example topics could be:

● A person you admire.
● Your favourite character
● Climate change.
● Wildlife animals.
● A TV show or book.
● Cooking/Food

Step 3 Conducting Research

In order to present you will need facts on your chosen topic, we will have classes in
the computer room and library during week two to facilitate your research.

Step 4 Planning your Speech

Now that you have your notes you will need to plan your speech, there will be
templates in your student booklet to help you do this.

Step 5 Writing your speech

Next is formatting and writing your speech. Your student booklet will have guide
questions on formatting your speech and I will be distributing a speech template for
you to write your speech on as practice. You can use this sheet as guidance during
your presentation or cue cards which will also be distributed.

Step 6 Reflection
Following your presentation, you are required to complete a student reflection sheet.
The template in your student booklet will help you evaluate your performance during
your speech.

Remember!
Your reflection also asks for materials used/accessed which is why your research
table and resources in step 3 are super important!

Thursday 28 Week 1 Introduction lesson.

Friday 29th Week 1 Complete step 1 deciding on presentation

style + mind map.

Monday 2nd Week 2 Complete step 2 deciding topic + begin

researching.

Tuesday 3rd Week 2 Continue researching and complete step 3,

documenting your findings in your booklet.

Wednesday 4th Week 2 Finish research and begin step 4, planning

your speech.

Thursday 5th Week 2 Complete step 4 + begin step 5, formatting

your speech.

Friday 6th Week 2 Continue step 5 and write your speech out.

Monday 9th Week 3 Complete step 5 ensuring your speech is

perfect + participate in presentation practice
during class.

Tuesday 10th Week 3 Presentation day, presentations will be

recorded so you can use this as guidance to
reflect on your performance and complete
step 6.

Wednesday 11th Week 3 Start Step 6. You will view your presentation
by yourself on the computer. I will be assisting
this activity. Group presentations will be
broken up, so individuals are only viewing
themselves.

Thursday 12th Week 3 Complete Step 6 following the presentation

and hand up your reflection document to the
teacher.
