Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English IV

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. Distinguish various types of viewing materials;
b. Reflecting and thinking about the images they are seeing;
c. Acquiring information and appreciating ideas.

II. Subject Matter

B. Motivation
 The teacher asked her students to;
Get your notebook and pens then look around in your surroundings and write
three things you have in your home where can you find information or ideas. Any
information, for currents events or world events.

 Categorize the viewing materials below according to their types. In your


notebook, copy and answer the chart below.

C. Lesson Proper
Viewing refers to perceiving, examining, interpreting, and constructing meaning from
visual images. Viewing materials such as print, digital, online and TV-broadcast
materials, are crucial in improving comprehension.

Now I have some question on you.


Do you enjoy viewing TV broadcast? Photographs? Online videos? Digital presentation?
Modernization gives you opportunity to choose from wide range of available viewing
materials. You can maximize their uses once you can distinguish one type from another.
And if you think that you can learn more if there’s a visual presentation of something
then you are visual learner.

If you are a visual learner, you learn by reading or


seeing pictures. You understand and remember things by sight. You can picture what you
are learning in your head, and you learn best by using methods that are primarily visual.
As a visual learner, you are usually neat and clean.

Excellent class! Those are the example of viewing materials.

There are two basic types of viewing materials. These are print and non-print.
a. Print viewing materials consist of all printed, images found in textbooks, workbooks,
reference books, magazines, newspaper, and journals. These includes the printed version
of maps, photographs, paintings, drawings, posters, infographics, graphs, and two-
dimensional art. (showing them the example of print viewing material)
b. Non-print viewing materials basically, digital viewing materials are non-print materials.
These are materials that are conveyed via digital media, with or without internet
connections. Examples include digital images, and digital presentations like PowerPoint
presentations, and online materials such as vlogs, educational videos, and online
broadcast. (showing them the example of non-print viewing material)

D. Application
So now let’s proceed in your activity.
Activity no. 1: Identify the types of the given viewing materials. In your notebook, write PM for
printed materials and NPM for non-printed materials.

E. Generalization
Print viewing materials consist of all printed, and all written material, excluding non-print
resources, which convey planned course information. Like images found in textbooks,
workbooks, reference books, magazines, newspaper, and journals.
Non-print viewing materials are those do not depend on printed resources. These are materials
that are conveyed via digital media, with or without internet connections. Not occurring in,
being, or involving printed matter citing nonprint sources sales of the nonprint version of the
book.
Viewing helps learners in reflecting and thinking about the images they are seeing, and develop
their knowledge and skills in analyzing and evaluating visual and multimedia texts. It’s also
helps them in acquiring information and appreciating ideas and experiences visually expressed
by others. To attain this, appropriate and varied viewing materials must be used to get the most
efficient progress on the viewer’s viewing comprehension.

III. Assessment
Complete the paragraph below by supplying the missing terms. Select from the given choices
below. Write your answer in your notebook.
