nurse, I believe that the key to properly executing
the therapeutic use of self approach is being mindful of our interactions with the patient for them to feel at ease and gain their trust. After all, one of the main factors to consider when caring for a patient is their mental and emotional well-being. If I ever have to utilize this approach with a patient, I must carefully consider every action I take in order to build a proper relationship with them while also respecting their boundaries. Casually conversing with the patient or carefully listening to them can help them feel more comfortable with us nurses, whether it's about personal stories or anything else they'd like to talk about. When a problem occurs for one of our patients, it is our responsibility as a nurse to work with them to solve the situation and ensure that they do not feel alone at all. Applauding the patient for their success in any particular operation is also a good way to make them feel appreciated and rewarded for their efforts. To end this, I've learned that the therapeutic use of self technique is a powerful weapon that all nurses should acquire because it is vital for them to develop strong relationships with their patients.
