Course Title Reading In Philippines History
The course analyzes Philippines History from multiple perspective through the lens of selected primary sources coming from various discipline. Students are
given opportunities to analyze the author’s background and main arguments compare the different points of view, identify biases and examine the evidence
presented in the document. The discussions will tackle traditional topics in history that will deepen and broaden their understanding of Philippines political,
Course Description
economic, cultural, social, scientific and religion history. Priority is given to primary materials that could help students develop their analytical and
communication skills. The end goal is to develop the historical and critical consciousness of the students so that they will become, versatile, articulate, broad
minded, morally upright and responsible citizens. This course includes mandatory topics on the Philippines Constitution, Agrarian Reform and Taxation.

Course Intended Learning Outcomes
Explain the meaning of History as an academic discipline and to be familiar with the understanding philosophy and the methodology of the subject;
Discuss critically the value of historical evidence and sources;
Discuss the importance of history in the social and natural life of the Philippines;
Explain the content and contextual analysis of Selected Primary Sources in Philippine History.
Discuss how to learn History through Primary sources.
Identify the advantages and disadvantages of employing critical tools in interpreting historical events through Primary Sources;
Explain the social, political, economic and cultural issues in the Philippines using the lens of History;
What recommendations or solutions to present day problems based on the understanding of the past through the study of history.
Identify the historical methods in writing the history of one’s locality or City;
Develop and appreciate the value of doing History to the present day.

1. The maximum number of absences allowed a student per semester is 20% of the total number of class hours. For instance, 20% of 54 hours is 10.8 or 11
hours. A student is given a grade of 5.00 (failed) if s/he incurs absences more than the allowed percentage of class hours.
2. Any student, who for an avoidable cause finds it necessary to be absent from class, must present to his/her professor either a letter from his/her parent or
Classroom Policies guardian or a medical certificate upon returning class.
3. A student may be accepted in class even if s/he is late for 25 minutes but should be marked absent.
4. A student is held responsible for all lessons and assignments missed during his/her absence. Furthermore, quizzes cannot be made up.
5. Any form of dishonesty, and/or deceit, especially cheating during examination or any class work shall be given a failing grade or 50.
