DBTC HOTLINE 11
Introduction:
At a young age, it is necessary that one receives the best quality of education and
formation they could possibly get. An education that not only grants what is required in
order to be deemed academically proficient, but an education that puts emphasis on
discipline, morals, values, lifelong learning, and the holistic development of the
individual.
The turn of events that Covid-19 has brought to the world affects our country and the
very own locality of Don Bosco Technical College. Despite the easing of quarantine
levels, the threat of the virus is still high, with increasing numbers of confirmed cases,
as of this writing. Such an unprecedented impact of this pandemic has reduced our
people to play between two violent currents: risking one's health just to continue with
daily living and the current of fear that stops the Filipino to grow despite the uncertainty.
Above all these, the Salesian educational mantra of "Education by Evangelizing and
Evangelizing by Educating" soars. As sons and daughters of St. John Bosco, we can
only but hold on to Faith and Education despite the continuous menace of Covid-19.
Thus, our continued pursuit to educate the young. This is the A.S.C.E.N.D.E. Program.
We go beyond the trials. We go beyond the limitations our present circumstances have
been giving to our pursuit of continued education. We go higher. We are ASCENDE
SUPERIUS!

Synchronous class time will be done through GMeet wherein the students will
have online teacher-directed instructions. The time allotment varies depending
on the grade level. An hour of consultation periods will be allotted after each
class for students who need further explanation or clarification from the subject
teacher. The asynchronous period is intended for the accomplishment of
independent learning area tasks.
2. What if my child will not be able to attend the synchronous session?
The recording of the synchronous class together with the Student Learning
Guide (SLG) will be uploaded in the Google Classroom each day. The SLG
details the learning activities for that day, including the seatworks or tasks that
the student needs to accomplish for the subject. Those who missed the
synchronous session will be able to view the recording and follow the lesson
through the Student Learning Guide. 7
The recordings and Student Learning Guide (SLG) are available from the
Google Classroom. Students may access at any time and work on the tasks
asynchronously. The students are given a week to complete/submit tasks and
activities assigned for the day. However, they are encouraged to submit
classwork as soon as done for immediate feedback from the teachers.
4. What platform will be used for the online delivery of learning? Is there a
specified digital learning gadget or device? What are the required
specifications?
Google Suite is the platform of the school for online distance learning. It
includes Google Meet for video conferencing and Google Classroom for its
LMS. Every DBTC student has access to it, in addition to a generous storage
space for all school-related files. Students need access to applications for web
browsing, word processing, presentation software, all of which are available in
G Suite. In addition, certain software that will be used will be provided for
download.
For grade school, there are still physical copies of books to lessen screen time.
In addition, reading from printed materials makes students more engaged with
the content of the subject.
8
6. Can we opt to continue with Online Distance Learning even if face-to-face
instruction is already allowed by the authorities?
Yes, the school recognizes the anxiety of parents over the health and safety of
their children, thus we shall allow those who wish to continue with online
distance learning and for the others to have blended learning (a combination of
face-to-face and online).
The daily class schedule begins with the Moderator’s period with the class
adviser. There will be no more than 2 subjects per day. Each subject will have a
synchronous session followed by the consultation period and the asynchronous
period for the accomplishment of daily tasks. The schedule of classes is
designed to cover only the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) as
prescribed by DepEd.
For the lower grades, adult supervision and assistance is essential for keeping
them on-task, establishing routines, use of technology, navigating LMS/apps,
and ensuring understanding of instructions. However, with the consistent
implementation of routines and the skills throughout the school year, the
students are expected to be more independent as the months go by. For older
students, they are expected to assume independence and responsibility for
their own learning. Thus, adult supervision is minimal and limited to keeping
them on-task and ensuring that they accomplish their deliverables.
Materials for the technical projects will be provided. They are already included
in the Miscellaneous fees. Parents/guardians need to pick them up from school
on a designated schedule.
The old students are required to wear their uniforms. PE shirts may be worn
during the MAPEH schedule.
The new students will wear plain white polo for the boys and a plain white
blouse with a collar for the girls. A plain white T-shirt may be worn during the
MAPEH schedule.
11. Will there be a list of materials just like the previous years?
Yes, we will issue a SUGGESTED list of materials that the students will need
for their online classes.
12. Will there be an orientation for the parents and
students?
Yes, the virtual Parents Orientation is scheduled in the first week of August.
This will be through GMeet. The student’s orientation will be in the second
week before the official opening of school on August 24. Details of the Parents
Orientation will be sent through email.
